Lynda Carter’s portrayal of Wonder Woman came at the perfect time when women were starting to show strength and wisdom on television. The Bionic Woman and Charlie’s Angels are a couple of examples. From the iconic spin transformation sequences to the jump in eras between World War II and modern-day (the 1970s), this series empowered a generation.

10 “The Feminum Mystique: Part 2” (Season 1, Episode 6) – 7.9

This conclusion to the exciting 2-parter involves Diana going back to her home, Paradise Island, in order to defend it from Nazis. Viewers saw a nice glimpse of her home in the pilot movie, but it is nice to see more of her home and her fellow Amazons. Wonderful guest stars appear in this episode, including Debra Winger as Drusilla, Diana’s younger sister, aka “Wonder Girl.” John Saxon gives a great performance as the main villain, and Carolyn Jones, perhaps best known for playing Morticia on The Addams Family, does a fantastic job playing Diana and Drusilla’s mother. It is fun and exciting from beginning to end.

9 “The Man Who Could Move The World” (Season 2, Episode 3) – 7.9

This series was always campy fun, and it does not take itself too seriously most of the time. However, the show has its moments where important themes and ideas are addressed, and this episode is a great example of that. A Japanese man with telekinetic abilities seeks revenge on Wonder Woman, believing she caused his brother’s death when he was a young child. Television discussing political correctness was rare at the time, and this episode does a great job balancing having a fun Wonder Woman episode and being informative on how World War II affected so many people. It is an episode that kids and parents should watch together.

8 “The Deadly Toys” (Season 2, Episode 12) – 7.9

This Christmas episode involves an evil toymaker creating androids of scientists in order to gain access and sell a secret government project. The episode is pure entertainment, and it is an exciting episode for the whole family to watch.

An android of Wonder Woman herself is created, and it is incredibly fun to see Wonder Woman battle herself. Lynda Carter, as always, did a great job performing both roles in this episode. It is a must-watch for fans of classic television during Christmas time.

7 “The Starships Are Coming” (Season 3, Episode 15) – 7.9

This episode focuses less on Wonder Woman action and more on how people react to the belief that an alien invasion is occurring. Similar to themes expressed in other TV series such as The Twilight Zone, this episode dives deep into the government and citizens’ reactions and responses to threats. It is an interesting story, and it stands out in the series.

6 “The Feminum Mystique: Part 1” (Season 1, Episode 5) – 8.0

This episode was early in the show’s run, and it brings another superhero into the mix, “Wonder Girl.” The first of this two-part episode introduces Drusilla, played by a young Debra Winger. Winger gives a great performance as Diana’s little sister, and her scenes steal the show. Her fish-out-of-water moments in the episode are just as good, if not better than Diana’s in the pilot. When Wonder Woman moved from ABC to CBS, the show transitioned from the World War II-era to modern-day 1977. This episode is sort of a second pilot as it deals with Diana going back to the U.S. over 30 years after her heroic days during the war.

Besides the difference in time period, other changes were made. The costume had some changes, Steve Trevor’s son, still played by Lyle Waggoner, became her new co-star, and Diana went from playing a mousy secretary to being taken seriously as a government agent. Before the name Crystal Lake became popular as the setting in the Friday the 13th franchise, it was the name of a small town in this Wonder Woman two-parter. This episode involves aliens coming to Earth and taking over the bodies of residents in a small town. Parts of the plot are similar to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and it makes for a great episode of this series.

Lynda Carter is, as always, incredible in the title role, and the guest stars give great performances as well. It ends on the best cliffhanger in the series. Diana’s transformation into Wonder Woman is iconic, and it was about time for someone to see it happen, making it a huge milestone in the series.

1 “The Boy Who Knew Her Secret: Part 2” (Season 3, Episode 21) – 8.2

The conclusion to this exciting, action-packed two-parter involves Diana continuing to figure out the truth surrounding the alien invaders as well as a shapeshifter those aliens hope to defeat. Diana’s secret identity is in jeopardy, however, and it makes for a very entertaining episode from beginning to end. There is a fun fight scene towards the end of the episode, and Lynda Carter continues to show that she was born to play the famous superhero. This is a must-watch for any fans of the Wonder Woman character or Lynda Carter herself.
