Pokemon games tend to have things that don’t always transfer from region to region, but characters are definitely not one of them. Players have seen them pop into the most unexpected of places, to the point where people made memes of Cynthia the Sinnoh champion popping into the Unova anime.

Nobody knows quite yet what mechanics the remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will have, but it’s pretty safe to assume it will have its share of character crossovers as other games have. Here are some possible people who can make pop-ins in Sinnoh.

10 Lillie

People might argue this, but Lillie is one of the Pokemon characters with the biggest personal growth ever seen. She starts off timid and cowardly but through the story grows her confidence that she always had. Lillie was always brave, the fact she was willing to run away from Aether Paradise with Nebby proves this – it was just she had to find it within herself. At the end of the Pokemon Sun and Moon games, she leaves on a boat headed for Kanto. This might be an opportunity where players get to see how she has grown traveling through the regions.

9 J The Huntress

Something that was extended a lot in Pokemon Sword and Shield was little side story anecdotes throughout the main quest and we can only hope they continue to be in future games. Someone who could be a fun villain and side quest in Diamond and Pearl remakes is J from the counterpart anime. J was a black market hunter who captured and stole rare pokemon from people and sold them to clients for high price tags. Think Team Rocket trio but less funny and more ruthless. She’d make for the perfect villain-before-the-real-villain story since she has a team of henchmen too. Plus Pokemon has been getting creative recently with how they make the bad guy stories in games.

8 Elite Four Caitlin

Yes, Caitlin is an Elite Four member in Unova but considering Cynthia’s role in the Sinnoh games and that the two of them are close friends, it’s very plausible that Caitlin may appear in the remakes. In fact, many people would probably enjoy seeing their canon friendship be extended upon here.

It’s a likable bond because they don’t annoyingly act like stereotypically catty or jealous blondes to one another. They balance mutually respecting each other with a friendly competitive spirit. That connection is a perfect display of a non-toxic female friendship.

7 Paul From The TV Series

Paul is a character from the counterpart anime who was Ash’s rival for most of the series. He’d be a great character to show up in the remakes because well, unlike most of the past few games rivals, Paul is not a nice person at all. Sure neither was Gladion (at first) or Bede, but the biggest difference between Paul and basically every other rival is that he has absolutely no level of empathy for the Pokemon he raises. If they don’t perform well in battles, he dumps them like last week’s steamed broccoli leftovers. He’s the optimal love-to-hate character.

6 Sonia From Galar

Pokemon researcher characters haven’t had that huge of roles in past games minus giving you a starter and sending you on your merry way. Sonia in Sword and Shield changed this a lot in the story. The biggest irony is that her scientist grandmother isn’t even the one that gives players their pokemon. She had an interesting plot involving confusion in what she wanted her career to be that ended up being tied at the end of the main quest. Sonia was heavily involved in the game’s story and also in the DLCs that followed, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her show up in Diamond and Pearl continuing her research outside Galar.

5 Green from Kanto

10 Characters From Other Pokemon Games Who Could Make A Cameo Appearance In Sinnoh

Green showed up in the Let’s Go games inside Mewtwo’s cave incredibly salty that you snagged the powerful psychic Pokemon from her. As punishment, she wants you to be her new Pokemon – no she seriously literally throws pokeballs at you.

It’s a hilarious scene that does really well at executing Green’s whimsical personality – manga readers will know that she was kidnapped as a child and had a less than ideal upbringing that contributed to her odd characteristics. We would be delighted to see some of her fun personality show up again.

4 Eusine The Mystic Man

10 Characters From Other Pokemon Games Who Could Make A Cameo Appearance In Sinnoh

Eusine was a guy in the Pokemon Gold & Silver games following the legendary Pokemon Suicune. What was interesting about him was that he wasn’t really a hunter or a scientific researcher, he was just particularly fascinated by the ideologies surrounding that legendary trio. Seeing him pop up in Sinnoh would be interesting. Is he still looking for Suicune? Has he left Johto to look for other legendary Pokemon such as the Regis? Has he gone full conspiracy theorist with a tin foil hat? There’s a lot to work with here as far as the plot goes. Not to mention it could set things up for future Let’s Go Johto games.

3 Steven Stone

The mountains of Sinnoh would certainly attract a man like Steven who loves rocks. Steven was the champion of Hoenn until the player defeats him. After that he goes on a trip wandering the region to do some soul searching and in later Hoenn games, he’s pretty much retired from hardcore battling to focus on his love of geology. Players might run into him doing his latest research up on Mount Coronet, and maybe even get the chance to help out with it once or twice.

2 Poni Island’s Hapu

10 Characters From Other Pokemon Games Who Could Make A Cameo Appearance In Sinnoh

Hapu was one of the island Kahunas in the Sun and Moon games. Kahunas were the equivalent of ‘gym leaders’ in the Alola region and the strongest trainer on each island that the player faced in Grand Trial battles after completing every challenge on the land.

Hapu was a character involved in the main story and she probably would not be a Kahuna forever, so don’t be surprised to possibly find her riding along on her Mudsdale in the hills of Sinnohs wilds. She may challenge you to a battle with her Ground-types too.

1 Galar Champion Leon

People are probably sick of seeing Leon everywhere by now, but there’s a possibility that due to his novelty, he could have a quick cameo in the remakes. The Leon players see would not be the champion of Galar though, he would be a younger less experienced guy probably accompanied by an equally sophomoric Raihan and Sonia. This would of course be only a scenario if researcher Sonia didn’t appear in the game. A younger Mina from the Sun & Moon games showed up at one point in the Let’s Go games, so anything is possible.
