In a way, any villain can be seen as a horror movie monster. After all, they’re meant to strike fear into audiences’ hearts, send shivers down their spine and create an ambiance that leaves them weeping in fear. Who better resembles this than the sith lord himself, Darth Vader?

Now with all that said, despite Vader having the makings of a horror movie villain (just look at the ending to Rogue One, an appearance riddled with hidden factoids) who’s to say other horror movie villains couldn’t easily beat him? Maybe Vader would lose against some of the horror genre’s worst baddies. Or, perhaps, the opposite could happen.

10 Beat Vader: Predator

Vader may be the baddest of the bad in the galaxy far, far away but how would he measure up to a being from another galaxy? It’s highly plausible that Vader may not be able to take on the terrifying force that is the Predator.

Not only would the extraterrestrial hunter be equipped with weapons and traps of all shapes and sizes, but his ability to blend in and knowledge of strategy would rival Vader’s. Plus, they get their hands on Darth’s saber for one second and it’s game over.

9 Wouldn’t Stand A Chance: Annabelle

Perhaps this is too obvious but it needs to be said. Dolls are creepy, even without the horror element added in. Annabelle, the freaky-looking doll from the Annabelle, is one of movie history’s creepiest haunted dolls for sure but going up against Vader? It’s no contest.

No matter how many creepy powers or supernatural abilities that freaky doll possess, it’s still a doll. Going up against the likes of one of Star Wars’ most powerful sith would just leave Annabelle cut in half or force slammed against the wall at the very hint of spookiness.

8 Beat Vader: The Creeper

Now, Darth Vader is a being made up of metal and cybernetic enhancements. The parts allow for Vader to be powerful and protect him from harm. Yet, what if Vader was going up against something that could add parts of their victims to them?

The Creeper, the main villain from Jeepers Creepers, is known for taking parts of its victims and using them for its own body. If the Creeper were to get ahold of just one piece of Darth’s armor and they could level the playing field.

7 Wouldn’t Stand A Chance: Candyman

The difficulty with horror villains is how large reaching they are. So many villains are seen as folktale monsters and incredibly powerful beings, like Candyman. An urban legend, Candyman is a powerful foe that could easily take down Vader.

If that is, Darth Vader was a stupid teenager. Candyman only really manifests if someone says their name five times in a mirror. There’s no way that Vader, as smart as he is, would do that and if one of his officers did, then they would be the victim, not Vader.

6 Beat Vader: Freddy Krueger

Again, horror villains are incredibly powerful. Some exist in dark and mysterious dimensions, others come from space and others still come from one’s dreams. Freddy Krueger, the nightmare monster, is one such baddie.

See, even Vader has to rest at some point, shut his eyes in a stasis pod, and when he does, he’ll end up in Kruegers Homebase. Darth Vader may stand a chance. But Anakin Skywalker, the man buried beneath? He’d be torn to shreds by the nightmares of Padme, Obi-wan, and other past crimes as Kreuger laughs.

5 Wouldn’t Stand A Chance: Jigsaw

Without a doubt, human’s don’t last long when pitted against a sith lord. Heck, even Jedi find it crazy to go up against Sith. So, Jigsaw, otherwise known as John Kramer the trap-making psychopath and one of the 21st century’s most iconic horror villains, would be mincemeat in mere hours.

Yet, the hours are what makes Kramer interesting. Jigsaw is a smart cookie, crafting deadly traps that take a toll on his victims. Even though Vader would undoubtedly reach Kramer and kill him, the traps would damage and slow him down severely, making Jigsaw a worthy–albeit short-lived–foe.

4 Beat Vader: Jason Voorhees

Cut in half. Burned alive. Operated on while awake and attached with dangerous cybernetics. Vader’s been through the wringer, there’s no doubt about that, and each time, he’s come out on top. However, there’s only one other who’s been through as much as him: Jason Voorhees.

The horror who’s stalked teenagers and made Friday The 13th an icon(despite not aging all that well), Jason’s survived being blown up, torn asunder, electrocuted, shot, and even dragged to Hell. If anyone has a chance at holding up against a lightsaber, it’s the killer of Camp Crystal Lake.

3 Wouldn’t Stand A Chance: Micheal Myers

Halloween. A time and film that audiences of all ages hope never becomes a reality. Much like Jason, Michael Myers, the Shape, has become an icon of horror with quite the kill count and is a merciless killer. Like John Kramer, though, Myers is human.

Yes, Myers has been through as much crap as Jason and come out on top, he’s still just human. The films make a big deal of this even as Myers climbs out of a burning building. So getting lopped in half by a lightsaber would be more than enough.

2 Beat Vader: The Thing

As mentioned all the way at the top with the Predator, the universe is a very large and scary place, much like the ocean. One galaxy out of thousands wouldn’t make up for the horrifying monsters like the Thing.

A horrifying mashup of body horror and hive mind, not only can the Thing absorb its victims but it can also appear as anyone. Even if Vader senses a disturbance in the force or uses his saber, it wouldn’t be long before the Thing absorbs Vader and rises victorious.

1 Wouldn’t Stand A Chance: Xenomorph

Yes, the Xenomorph that has made many audiences scream in the place where no one can hear it is a classic movie monster one hundred percent. That being said, something to keep in mind is that the Xenomorph is little more than an animal.

Sure, it displays levels of intelligence, such as hiding in vents, and could easily defeat any action hero but it’s never shown anything more than a desire to kill. That would negate its double mouth and acid blood as it goes up against Darth Vader who could easily outsmart and withstand the beast.
