Animal enemies in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey aren’t too difficult to fight for the most part, but every once in a while, you’ll encounter a beast like the Minotaur or Kalydonian Boar that is stronger than the majority of humans you’ve fought on your journey.

The Kalydonian Boar is a boss appearing in the quest “The Daughters Of Artemis,” and it’s one of the toughest animals in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which means you may need a few tips for facing it, especially on harder difficulties.

Where To Find The Kalydonian Boar

After receiving the instructions to defeat the Kalydonian Boar, you’ll need to travel west of the Temple Of Artemis, where you’ll come across a marshy area. From the Temple, there will be a small cliff that you’ll need to climb while traveling, and near it, the Kalydonian Boar is waiting for a battle. The picture above shows exactly where you can find the Kalydonian Boar on your in-game map.

How To Defeat The Kalydonian Boar

There are many ways you can approach the battle with the Kalydonian Boar; however, there are a few rules and tips you should follow to make the fight easier, regardless of your preferred gameplay style.

You also want to make sure to bring your most powerful armor and weapons because the Kalydonian Boar is an enemy with a lot of health, and it also packs a punch when it charges at you.

Unlock Weapon Engravings That Deal Extra Damage Towards Animal Enemies

There are many weapon engravings to unlock in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that make combat in certain situations much easier. To unlock these engravings, you need to defeat hostile animals, and the highest engraving requires you to defeat 100 animals in total.

Animals live in the wilderness, especially in forests. Most animal enemies are easy to kill as long as they aren’t a higher level than you, so it’s worth unlocking an animal damage engraving if you can’t defeat the Kalydonian Boar due to lack of damage. Lions and bears are among a few of the deadly animals waiting for a fight in the wilderness of Ancient Greece.

Paralyze The Smaller Boars With Paralyze Arrows

While you’re fighting the Kalydonian Boar, it will continuously spawn extra boars to fight you; however, they aren’t nearly as large or powerful as the boss. Even though they aren’t powerful by themselves, the smaller boars are a force to worry about because they can team up on you until you’re overwhelmed, and the Kalydonian Boar will also be attacking you at the same time.

If you defeat the small boars, then the Kalydonian Boar will spawn more, which continues forever until it’s defeated. However, you can paralyze the smaller boars with arrows which means they can’t attack you, but they also won’t die. With this method, the Kalydonian Boar won’t spawn any new boars to attack you; however, you also need to be careful not to attack them by accident while fighting the Kalydonian Boar boss. You can craft paralyze arrows after unlocking the first tier of the Arrow Master perk. One soft leather and two olive wood are the only ingredients you need to craft paralyze arrows.

Wait For The Kalydonian Boar To Charge And Then Attack It After Dodging Its Attack

Similar to other enemies in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the Kalydonian Boar moves quickly and lunges at you while attacking. The most efficient way to deal with the Kalydonian Boar is to wait for its attack and then dodge, which will allow you to get a few hits in before it lunges again.

Stand Far Away And Fire Arrows At The Kalydonian Boar

Melee attacks aren’t the only way to defeat the Kalydonian Boar; you can also stand back and fire arrows at it, which may be easier if you’re at a lower level and take a lot of damage from its attacks.

Fire arrows are one of the best ways to deal damage to the Kalydonian Boar if you go the archery route. The only disadvantage with this method is that you most likely won’t deal damage as quickly as you would using melee attacks, so it may take longer to defeat the boss. Still, archery is a great way to damage enemies that are too powerful for you since it’s easier to dodge attacks while staying far away from the Kalydonian Boar.

If You’re Still Struggling, Take A Break From The Fight And Level Up

Like most quests and enemies in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the Kalydonian Boar is a leveled fight, so you may not be at a high enough level if you try to complete the quest immediately after starting the game. You may not have this problem if you’re playing on an easier difficulty, but on harder difficulties, you’ll have some degree of trouble dealing with enemies that are higher-level than yourself. The recommended level for the Kalydonian Boar fight is around 38-40, although you can complete it at lower or higher levels.

It’s not too hard to level up; you only need to complete side quests near your level. Taking a break from the Kalydonian Boar fight may be frustrating, but it’s better than wasting a lot of time if you don’t think you can defeat it on the current difficulty. Furthermore, remember that you can turn down the difficulty whenever you want since it’s easy to forget that changing the difficulty is an option while you’re in the middle of a fight.

Return To The Temple Of Artemis Location Once The Kalydonian Boar Is Defeated

After you’ve used the previous tricks to defeat the Kalydonian Boar, you can return to the Temple Of Artemis to finish this objective of “The Daughters Of Artemis” quest, which will lead you into another hunt for a legendary animal. Some of the following “The Goddesses’ Hunt” quests feature enemies even more powerful than the Kalydonian Boar, so be sure to prepare before beginning the next mission in the questline.
