Batman is joining the Fortnite Universe in a brand-new way, as on Friday, DC Comics revealed a partnership with Epic Games announcing a new comic series Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point. The series will pull the Caped Crusader into the world of Fortnite, as he will team-up and fight against some of the game’s biggest characters while trying to remember who he is and how he ended up in the new world.

Fortnite has teamed-up with comic properties in the past, as the Battle Royale video game has had both Marvel, DC Comics, and Hasbro heroes as playable skins in their games. Fortnite also previously has done a canonical story in the Marvel Universe, called the Nexus War – which was released alongside an in-game event. This digital comic will not only have its own comic, but the reveal comes with in-game perks and skins that can be earned by owning the comic.

Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point will be written by Christos Gage with art by Reilly Brown, Christian Duce, Nelson DeCastro, and John Kalisz, along with creative input from Epic Games. Each issue of the digital comic will have a code that can be redeemed for in-game items, including a new Harley Quin outfit. Subscribers of DC Universe Infinite will have access to the codes for free, while those who redeem all six will be able to get a new Armored Batman Zero Outfit skin. Check out previews for the series, including covers from Mikel Janin and Kenneth Rocafort.

The preview pages show Batman trying to figure out why a breach has emerged in Gotham City. After fighting off Harley Quinn, the DC antihero gets sucked into the wormhole. Does Batman enter the breach in order to save Harley?

Solicits for the series suggest Batman will face off against some of Fortnite’s “champions” on the Island, including Renegade Raider, Fishstick, Bandolier, and more characters. So for those wanting to see Batman take on some wacky-looking characters outside of just general gameplay, you’re in luck.

It might seem like an odd choice for Batman to crossover with Fortnite, but given the reach of the game (which has tens of millions of active users) and the fact previous tie-in’s to the series have brought more of a spotlight on DC characters, it’s a no-brainer to do a comic with both universe’s smashing together. The six-issue digital miniseries featuring Batman and the Fortnite Universe will begin on April 20, 2021. Fortnite/Batman: Zero Point will also be printed physically in native languages in Germany, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, the Czech Republic, and Spain.
