Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled has had a great launch since mid-June, but there is a significant issue for PlayStation 4 players and their save files. Beenox Team has released a blog post stating that on July 3 we will see a proper fix released to eliminate the chance of corrupted data if the Time Trials date file becomes too large.
Primarily this affect players who completed too many Time Trial races, which would have been those focused on the unlocking N. Tropy, who is perhaps the most difficult character to acquire. Doing so requires beating the best times in the game on all tracks, and so the notion that those players were losing save data must be frustrating considering how many times they would have been running tracks over and over again to perfect their technique.
For now, the developers strongly advise PS4 players not to play any Time Trials to avoid the risk of corruption, or that using an external storage device to save or backup data would be a smart precaution. They added that to date there is no indication that this is occurring for either the Nintendo Switch or the Xbox One.
All players across all consoles will be receiving a one-time gift of 2,500 Wumpa Coins for their patience since the game has launched. All you need to do to redeem the coins are to play the game while connected to the internet from now through the fourth of July. After finishing a race, head to the Pit Stop to find the Wumpa Coins.
Apart from the bug issue, there is also exciting news for players as we see the introduction of Grand Prix. The Nitro Tour Grand Prix will go live and will allow players to earn Nitro Points, which like coins can be used to unlock customization content by completing challenges within the Grand Prix menu.
A new track is being added named “Twilight Tour”, along with the character Tawna who can be earned by completing similar challenges and by spending Nitro Points.
Note that this Grand Prix content is not a permanent addition to the game. Rather, she is being released in a similar way that games add seasonal content, so players should be sure to try and grab her while they can!
Finally, Leaderboards will be added for viewing from the Grand Prix menu, so players will have a firm idea of how the best racers in the world rank compared to themselves.
Hopefully this patch solves all issues for PS4 users, so that they can get back to those insanely fast Time Trials!
