Who was on Jiren’s Universe 11 team in Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power, and how did they lose? The Tournament of Power, the final story arc in Dragon Ball Super, featured more fighters than any other Dragon Ball story. For the tournament, 80 warriors came together in teams of ten for an all-out battle that raged on for over 30 episodes.

The Tournament of Power encompassed eight of Dragon Ball Super’s 12 universes: Universes 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11. Each team, which was represented by their corresponding universe’s God of Destruction, consisted of ten warriors. The idea was for every God of Destruction to assemble a team of the strongest fighters from their universes. The prize for winning was the Super Dragon Balls, which could grant the ultimate wish. The consequence for losing, however, was complete annihilation of the team’s entire universe. What this meant was that only one universe could remain in existence by the end of the tournament.

One of the teams competing in the tournament was the Universe 11 team, which was formed by Universe 11’s Destroyer, Belmod. Belmod’s team was composed of galactic heroes called the Pride Troopers. Goku met and fought one of the Pride Troopers at the end of the Grand Zeno Expo when he was challenged by an onlooker named Toppo. Goku fought “Top” to a tie in the Expo, but hoped to have a rematch with him in the tournament. He also wanted to battle Jiren, who was said to be even more powerful than Top himself.

Vewon

After Universe 6’s Kale transformed into a Legendary Super Saiyan and went on a jealous rampage against Goku, she was ambushed by Vewon, a member of the Pride Troopers. Vewon wrapped her up with an energy attack called the Justice Whip, and claimed that Kale would be “powerless” against it. Despite this, Kale easily broke free of the Justice Whip and knocked Vewon off the ring with a punch (that occurred off-screen).

Tupper

After Kale was calmed down, Goku, Caulifla, and Kale were attacked by a group of five Pride Troopers, whose flashy poses made them similar to Dragon Ball Z’s Ginyu Force. Casserale, Tupper, Cocotte, Zoire, and Kettle teamed up on the trio, forcing Androids 17 and 18 to join in as well, to make it an even five-on-five. After splitting them up, Tupper (a warrior who could control his own body weight) grabbed Goku and held him in an unbreakable grip. This was part of a plan that would allow Zoire, a small fighter with a tornado-like spinning ability, to pummel Goku. This backfired when Android 18 interfered. Tupper used a powerful rolling attack against the two, but was stopped when Android 18 caught him. She hurled him toward the edge, and the ground crumbled beneath his feet.

After Tupper’s defeat, the four Pride Troopers changed their strategy. Casserale, who could turn his hands into energy blades, interrupted his fight with Android 17 and led his team in a combined assault against Caulifla and Kale. After Caulifla went Super Saiyan 2 and Kale used her Legendary Super Saiyan power, the pair were able to fend off an energy blast from the Pride Troopers and push Kettle, Casserale, and Zoire off the ring. The elimination of Casserale in particular was important, because his defeat cost the Pride Troopers’ their general.

Cocotte

Of the four Pride Troopers who fought Caulifla and Kale, the only one to remain standing after that blast was Cocotte, who summoned a dome of energy around her body. Her ability to create barriers of energy was her main weapon in battle against the Saiyans and the Androids, but it didn’t protect her from Android 18, who picked up the ball of energy (with Cocotte still inside) and tossed her out of the ring. Universe 11’s team of fighters was cut down to four.

K’nsi

Hit, who is easily one of Universe 6′ strongest fighters and one of the most challenging opponents Goku has ever faced, was faced with a huge problem when he went up against Universe 11’s Dyspo, who was much faster than him, and able to defeat his Time Skip. As soon as Hit learned how to counter Dyspo, Dyspo had to be saved from falling out of the ring by his fellow Pride Trooper, K’sni, a creature who could generate energy threads from his hands. After Goku stepped in to fight Dyspo, Hit eliminated K’nsi with his Time Skip technique. With K’nsi defeated and still plenty of time left in the Tournament of Power, Universe 11 was left with only three fighters.

Dyspo

Though outnumbered by several of the other teams, the last three fighters on Jiren’s team made it to the final minutes of the tournament. When there were only eight fighters left in total, Universe 11 was one of the remaining two teams, the other being Universe 7, who still had Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Android 17, and Gohan. While the others dealt with Top and Jiren, Frieza took on Dyspo. Dyspo, Universe 11’s third strongest warrior, was supposedly the fastest character in the tournament. After a fight that lasted across several episodes, Frieza used his Golden Frieza form to gain the edge over Dyspo. But, Dyspo had a trump card that no one expected. His Super Maximum Light Speed Mode took him to a level that Frieza couldn’t contend with on his own. Gohan joined forces with Frieza and together, the two limited Dyspo’s mobility by encasing Gohan and Dyspo in a cage of energy. With Frieza’s help, Gohan allowed himself to be eliminated by a blast from Frieza to ensure Dyspo was knocked out of the ring.

Through the second half of the tournament, Goku’s allies struggled with Universe 11’s second strongest warrior and leader of the Pride Troopers, Top. While fighting, Top constantly expressed his opinions about justice, and it was clear that he was a righteous hero fighting for the preservation of his universe. After intense battles with Vegeta, Android 17, and Gohan, Top transformed into a God of Destruction and turned his back on his ideals. Though still inferior in combat to Jiren, Top proved himself capable of overpowering Android 17, Gohan, Frieza, and temporarily, Evolved Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. Vegeta, angered by the idea that Top would betray his own principles, increased his power and finally took down Top.

Jiren

The main antagonist of the Tournament of Power was Jiren, who spend most of his time on the sidelines, confident that he could beat anyone who went up against him. He eliminated Hit and outmatched both Goku and Vegeta. His power forced both characters to improve and grow stronger as the tournament continued, but when it came down to just five fighters (Jiren, Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, and Android 17), Jiren was still too powerful. He effortlessly eliminated a weakened Vegeta and fought Goku, who finally achieved the completed version of the Ultra Instinct form. At last, Jiren was faced with an opponent he could not defeat. When Goku’s power suddenly faded, Jiren once again held the advantage. Goku and Frieza — both badly injured — sacrificed themselves to finish off Jiren.

With all three eliminated at once, Universe 11 was erased and Android 17 was left standing as the sole remaining fighter and the winner of the Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super. Thanks to Android 17’s decision to use the Super Dragon Balls to wish everyone back, Jiren and all his allies were brought back to life.
