Every Halloween Movie Character Whos Been Killed More Than Once

Lots of people die in the Halloween movies, some even more than once. In real life, it’s not usually possible to die more than once, outside of the rare cases of people that technically die, only to be quickly revived by doctors. Even in most movie franchises, it’s also not possible to die multiple times, as deaths are usually done for dramatic effect, and reversing them can undercut that. Of course, most movie franchises don’t have continuities as twisted and tangled as Halloween.

Over the course of 12 movies – which becomes 13 with 2022’s Halloween Ends – the Halloween franchise has created no less than five distinct timelines. One of those is the one-off experiment known as Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, but the other four involve Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. The original Halloween timeline consists of Halloween 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Halloween H20 would then erase 4, 5, and 6, making 1, 2, H20 and its sequel Resurrection into its own timeline. Rob Zombie created his own mini Halloween timeline with his 2007 remake and 2009 sequel, and most recently Blumhouse Productions erased everything past John Carpenter’s original, creating a timeline of Halloween 1978, 2018, Kills, and Ends.

Thanks to Halloween’s many timelines, several characters have been killed off multiple times, some even played by the same actors in multiple instances. Here’s a look at every character to die more than once. It wouldn’t be surprising to see this group grow either.

Laurie Strode

The Halloween franchise’s most prolific heroine, Laurie Strode has been played off and on by noted horror movie queen Jamie Lee Curtis for over 40 years, originating the character in Carpenter’s Halloween. She would reprise the role in Halloween 2 1981, Halloween H20, Halloween: Resurrection, Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills, and will return for Halloween Ends. Laurie was first killed offscreen between Halloween 2 and Halloween 4 in a car crash. After she reappeared in the H20 timeline, Laurie was killed by Michael Myers early on in Resurrection. Curtis’ Laurie would be resurrected again for the Blumhouse timeline and has so far survived. Rob Zombie’s Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) was also gunned down by police at the end of his Halloween 2.

Dr. Sam Loomis

The psychiatrist and later attempted destroyer of Michael Myers, Dr. Loomis was played by Donald Pleasance in Halloween 1978, Halloween 2, Halloween 4, Halloween 5, and Halloween 6. Pleasance would sadly pass away not long after production wrapped. Loomis was meant to have died in the explosion at the end of Halloween 2, but that was later retconned by the makers of Halloween 4. He also seems to die in Halloween 5, but that was similarly retconned at a later date, with his fate left ambiguous at the end of Halloween 6. Halloween H20 said Loomis had died offscreen in the 20 years since 1978, and he’s also deceased in the Blumhouse timeline. At the end of Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2, Loomis (Malcolm McDowell), was killed rather viciously by Michael Myers.

Marion Chambers

Nancy Stephens originated the character of Nurse Marion Chambers in Halloween 1978, accompanying Dr. Loomis to Smiths Grove Sanitarium to try and retrieve an escaping Michael Myers. She returned for Halloween 2 and survived, but only came back long enough to get murdered by Michael at the beginning of Halloween H20. Stephens came back again to portray Marion in Halloween Kills, which had retconned H20 out of existence. She’s again killed by Michael, after an attempt to shoot him royally backfires.

Annie Brackett

One of Laurie Strode’s teenage best friends, Annie Brackett (Nancy Kyes) is originally set to babysit young Lindsey Wallace but pawns her off on Laurie after boyfriend Paul calls. Of course, Annie never makes it to Paul, getting strangled by Michael inside her car. In Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, Annie is played by Danielle Harris, who played Jamie Lloyd in the original Halloween timeline. Harris’ Annie does get busy with Paul, and even survives Michael’s attack. She’s not so lucky in Zombie’s Halloween 2, getting absolutely destroyed by Michael in one of his harshest kills ever.

Lynda Van Der Klok

Laurie’s other teenage BFF, Lynda Van Der Klok (P.J. Soles) helped set the seemingly unintentional trend of sex and drugs equaling death in slasher movies. She’s strangled by Michael with a phone cord, after thinking a sheet-covered Shape was her boyfriend playing a prank. In a cool touch, Soles made a voice cameo in Halloween 2018. Kristine Klebe plays Lynda in Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, and suffers almost exactly the same fate, right down to Michael dressing as a ghost.

Bob Simms

Bob Simms is Lynda’s boyfriend, and after they have sex in Halloween 1978, he goes downstairs to get her a beer. Bob never makes it back, famously being stabbed so hard that he’s pinned to the wall, earning him an iconic head tilt from Michael Myers. Bob, played by Nick Mennell, serves the same functions in Rob Zombie’s Halloween but gets killed while retrieving beer from his car.

Judith Myers

The murder of Judith Myers (Sandy Johnson), the teenage sister of Michael Myers, is perhaps the most famous kill in the Halloween franchise. It opens John Carpenter’s classic Halloween, and sees a young Michael dressed in a clown suit go upstairs and brutally stab his sister to death after she’s had sex with her boyfriend. Judith’s role in Rob Zombie’s remake is quite different, as she’s shown being abusive and mean toward Michael, who ends up killing both her and her boyfriend. In this version, Judith wasn’t Michael’s first victim, that honor went to a bully at school.

Michael Myers

While none of Michael’s “deaths” have ever been confirmed as being final, he’s seemed to have died plenty of times, most notably at the end of 1981’s Halloween 2. Michael is shot through both eyes by Laurie Strode, then blown up along with Dr. Loomis at Haddonfield Memorial Hospital. Creator John Carpenter did indeed plan for this to be Michael’s legitimate, conclusive death, but producer Moustapha Akkad decided to bring back Michael after the unrelated Halloween 3 bombed. At the end of Halloween H20, in the second Myers timeline, Michael is seemingly decapitated by Laurie with an axe. This was again planned to be his real demise, at least by everyone not named Moustapha Akkad, who forced a retcon to explain his return in Halloween: Resurrection, angering Jamie Lee Curtis. Michael gets stabbed to death by Laurie at the end of Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2, and one presumes he might die again before credits roll on Halloween Ends.
