What better henchman is there than a dude with a flamethrower? None, which is exactly why Pyro from Team Fortress 2 has been added to Evil Genius 2 in its latest update.

Patch 1.6 updates a lot of Evil Genius 2, but the best part of the latest patch is the free addition of Pyro as a new henchman. This includes a side story to hire Pyro that involves deciding whether you prefer blue or red as a team color.

As expected, Pyro’s main skill in Evil Genius 2 is to light things on fire. However, Pyro can unexpectedly extinguish those flames with a whiff of compressed air. Since things tend to catch fire around Pyro a lot, this master of flames is pretty handy.

Pyro is free for everything, but update 1.6 also adds a paid DLC option in The Valkyrie. The Rise of the Valkyrie Pack provides you with a brand new side story to meet and greet Doomhilda, an opera singer with a voice that can just as easily shatter glass as it can an agent’s soul.

What this means in Evil Genius 2 is that Doomhilda can stun enemies while inspiring her allies. Also handy, but maybe not as handy as lighting everything on fire.

Besides the two new henchmen, patch 1.6 brings a whole bunch of QOL improvements. Cover Operations can now provide a steady source of income and players will notice a “marked increase” in gold production when setting your casinos to “scam tourists.” Rebellion promises to monitor this change to ensure proper game balance.

Decor items have been updated to show their area of effect with a solid color which also identifies the thing it buffs. Pink buffs vitality, yellow buffs smarts, and green buffs morale. Items within the AOE will also become tinted with the same color to indicate that they’re currently within the active effect of a Decor item.

A few Decors have also been boosted with the recent patch, such as the “Egg Pod” Infirmary Decor boosting Restore Vitality jobs while the “Brain Hologram” Laboratory Decor now reducing Smarts decay. You can get the full list of changes (which are quite extensive) on the patch notes here.
