With Halloween just around the corner, Bethesda has revealed that this week Fallout 76 will be free-to-play for a limited period of time and will feature new festivities with spooky-themed content to add some Halloween spirit to the online action role-playing game. Fallout 76’s latest season, The Unstoppables vs The Diabolicals, launched earlier in September and allows players to suit up as a group of superheroes as they battle it out against villains in a comic book-themed experience. Like previous seasons, Season 6 brings a variety of in-game events, daily and weekly challenges, rank rewards, exclusive content, and adds new characters to post-apocalyptic Appalachia.

Fallout 76 launched in 2018 and introduced multiplayer to Bethesda’s long-running popular Fallout series. The title however suffered from multiple controversies and a rocky launch. In an attempt to resuscitate the game, Bethesda fixed ongoing issues with minor patches, followed by bigger updates to draw back players and grow its community. Fallout 76’s first big update came with Wastelanders, which fixed almost a thousand bugs and overhauled the experience with a storyline, NPCs, and reintroduced dialog trees seen in previous Fallout games.

As shared in a lengthy post on Bethesda’s website with a brand-new trailer, Fallout 76 will be free-to-play for a week, with a new update that features new Halloween festivities that players can participate in to unlock exclusive content. Starting with the Spooky Scorched event, Wastelanders can hunt down scorchers wearing costumes to unlock legendary items, a Spooky Treat Bag, and a piece of Mystery Candy that players can eat to receive one of five buffs. This year, Fallout 76 will also be celebrating the traditional Halloween custom and those inquisitive can go trick-or-treating around Appalachia with friends or stay at personal CAMPs and give out candy. Both events will last until November 2nd and participating players will be able to unlock new rewards, cosmetics, and items for CAMPs.

Alongside Season 6, Bethesda also introduced Fallout Worlds, bringing new server hosting features and hand-crafted worlds by Bethesda to Fallout 76. These new features allow Fallout 1st members to create their own Custom Worlds with a variety of modifiers and settings to their liking, while Public Worlds are open to all players and include unique worlds that bring distinctive experiences.

Even though the year is almost over, there’s still plenty of content and updates heading to the title before it rings into Season 7 at the start of December. Whether players are looking to hunt down Spooky Scorched or go trick or treating with friends to celebrate Halloween, Fallout 76 is a playground for everyone and those playing can always find enjoyment in its wasteland.
