The first footage from Wonder Woman 1984 has arrived ahead of tomorrow’s full trailer. Fans have been anxiously awaiting a sequel to Wonder Woman since the moment it hit theaters in 2017. Once they officially brought director Patty Jenkins back, Warner Bros. and DC Films originally planned for the sequel to arrive this December. After a few release date changes though, Wonder Woman 1984 is set to arrive next summer and makes it one of the most anticipated movies of 2020.
Gal Gadot is back to star as the Amazonian goddess named Diana Prince and will make her fourth appearance in the role overall. While her last appearance was in the present-day setting of Justice League, her solo sequel will once again be a period piece – this time set to capture the nostalgia of the 80s. Throughout the production of Wonder Woman 1984, we were treated to official and unofficial looks at the movie, but any footage had not yet been publicly released. That is set to change this weekend at CCXP in Brazil when the trailer launches.
Instead of making eager fans wait any longer to see Wonder Woman 1984 in action, Warner Bros. has released a quick teaser to generate even more excitement for the full trailer. Featuring the first bits of footage from the movie, the trailer shows a few different sequences from the film, with Diana’s brighter costume shown throughout.

The big set piece that is focused on in this short teaser is Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) inside the White House. Diana does most of the damage during the fight by deflecting bullets and using her Lasso of Truth, while Steve is holding his own against a guard. This is the sequence that WB and DC featured at San Diego Comic-Con last year when production was still underway and during the HBO Max presentation earlier this year, so it’s inclusion in this teaser – and likely even more of it in the full trailer – is hardly surprising. These scenes also provide us with our best looks at Diana’s brighter costume, but this isn’t her final suit.
As for what else the teaser shows, we get a brief glimpse at Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) raising his hands in the center of some sort of machine. It’s possible that this could be tied to him getting his telepathic powers, if those are featured in the movie at all. The last shot intriguingly shows Diana striking a lightning bolt with her lasso. With all of this packed into less than 20 seconds of footage, we can only imagine how much Wonder Woman 1984’s full trailer is going to show. Thankfully, the wait to see it is almost over.
