An unfortunate Grand Theft Auto Online player waiting for the results of their elite challenge attempt on the Doomsday Heist found out they were stiffed on the reward at the last moment. The Doomsday Heist is a three-act series of missions that was added as part of patch 1.42 to GTA Online in 2017.

Eight years on since its release, Rockstar’s GTA Online remains popular thanks to consistent updates providing new content for its players. Heists, a central component of GTA V’s campaign, were added to GTA Online in 2015, and allowed up to four players to plan and execute high stakes robberies for a sizable reward. Since the release of heists in GTA Online, Rockstar has continually expanded upon the feature, with the game now offering players eight heists to choose from. The newest GTA Online heist, Cayo Perico, provides players with the option to complete the missions solo for the first time.

Redditor Jamal1309 shared a video of their unlucky experience while awaiting their reward after completing Act III of the Doomsday Heist. The clip showed the results screen tallying up the total earnings from the three-man heist, which sat at $1.2 million dollars. It was then revealed that the Redditor would be able to earn a 15% cut of $180k from the total earnings, provided they had completed all the requirements of the elite challenge. As the game checked off the required tasks, it seemed Jamal1309 had managed to pass most of the feats, until it got to the final requirement. The final check revealed that the Redditor had managed to pull off 149 out of the required 150 headshots, and as a result the elite challenge was considered incomplete, thus rendering Jamal1309 ineligible for the $180k reward.

Jamal1309’s unlucky heist attempt resonated with many GTA Online players, a lot of them chiming in to sympathize with the Redditor, having experienced a similar result with the challenge. The chaotic nature of Heists in the game can often lead to unexpected results, with one GTA Online player’s train encounter almost ruining their Casino Heist. While Jamal1309’s heist certainly did not net them the results they expected, the Redditor stated that they were not too disappointed, as they were surprised their group managed to finish the mission, despite playing with random teammates.

Although the Redditor was ultimately one task short of completing their challenge, it was certainly a good effort, considering the circumstances. While Jamal1309 may have lost out on their reward, at least they finished the mission relatively unscathed, unlike GTA Online streamer xQc, who nearly passed out during a bank heist.
