The Pixel 6 series, like all of Google’s Pixel phones, enjoy special updates multiple times each year that bring new features, and Quick Tap to Snap is among the best for Snapchat users. Faster access to the Snapchat camera means funny moments and rare occurrences are less likely to be missed. Of course, an avid Snapchat user will appreciate being able to launch the app instantly with just a tap.

Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were among the first phones to get Android 12, which brought new gesture controls, as well as accessibility features that make using the phone easier, and more intuitive once a few new habits are made. For example, a Pixel and other Android 12 phones can be controlled when the user changes their facial expressions, making raised eyebrows, a smile, an open mouth, and more equivalent to selecting and tapping controls on the phone. Another useful feature, One-handed mode, turns a downward swipe into a gesture that moves the top controls lower for easier reach with a thumb.

Google wants its Pixel 6 series to be the best and easiest to use phones and, in a partnership with Snapchat, made launching the app quicker than ever before. With the latest version of Snapchat and Android 12, the Pixel 6 has the option to open Snapchat from the lock screen with a simple double-tap on the back of the phone. The Pixel 6’s Quick Tap feature can be found in the Gestures settings which are located under the System section of the Settings app. Choosing Quick Tap to Snap will enable lock screen access to the Snapchat camera for a super quick selfie or video.

Snapchat Pixel Face Lens

Snapchat is known for its augmented reality filters and the company has also made available a Pixel Face lens that’s exclusive to Pixel phones. When the user opens their mouth, their face is covered in large, colorful pixels that glow and radiate light, while a ‘powering up’ sound effect plays. The lens can be used on the rear camera as well, identifying faces with Snap’s AR technology and applying the Pixel Face lens effect to someone else.

Quick Tap works with other apps as well, but the lock screen access is currently only available for Snapchat. Quick Tap can also be set up to open to a chosen part of the app, such as Stories, Map, Chat, and Spotlight. It’s also possible to have Quick Tap open a chat with a particular person and all of these options appear in the Snapchat Quick Tap settings on a Pixel 6 series phone.
