Naruto ended with a new beginning. Naruto had finally achieved his dream of becoming the Hokage and now had a family of his own. The Naruto manga ended with Naruto’s son, Boruto, defacing the Hokage Monument, in the same way that he had done in the first chapter of the series. It turns out that Naruto wasn’t the best of fathers, as he let his duties as Hokage take precedence over spending time with his wife and children.
The introduction of Boruto in the final chapter of Naruto set the stage to pass the series on to him. Boruto would receive his own movie, which was followed by an anime and manga series. The opening to Boruto’s new series shows a devastated Konoha and a new villain who hints that Naruto himself may be dead. The clock then turns back to the days of Boruto’s Chunin Exam, where a new saga begins.
We are here today to look at the hidden information concerning the next iteration of Naruto. From the controversy surrounding Sarada’s new design in the manga to the final act of recognition between two mighty rivals who had shaped the world, here are 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Boruto!
15 Boruto Was Originally Going To Have The Byakugan
It’s possible for people in the world of Naruto to pass on abilities to their children. These are known as Kekkai Genkai or Bloodline Limit. A Kekkai Genkai can take the form of unique abilities (like those granted by the Sharingan), the ability to manipulate the body (like Kimimaro’s bones), or allowing the user to create unique elemental mixtures for techniques.
When Boruto and his sister, Himawari, showed up in the final chapter of Naruto, the fans were surprised by the fact that they didn’t appear to possess the Byakugan. Their mother was Hinata Hyuga, which means that her children should carry the Byakugan in their eyes.
Masashi Kishimoto has said that he was going to give Boruto and Himawari the Byakugan but forgot to include them in the final chapter. He later rectified this in a one-shot special called The Day Naruto Became Hokage, which showed Himawari manifesting the Byakugan for the first time.

Sarada has made it clear that she wants to become the Hokage someday. Boruto has no interest in following in his father’s footsteps, as he wants to follow his own destiny as a ninja. It is for this reason that he sought out Sasuke Uchiha and convinced him to become his master. Sasuke eventually agreed and taught Boruto, as he was impressed by how different he was from his father.
Masashi Kishimoto revealed in a TV interview that he planned for Sasuke and Boruto’s relationship to mirror that of Piccolo and Gohan’s from Dragon Ball Z. This refers to the parental bond between the two, as Piccolo was more of a father to Gohan than Goku ever was.
Goku was always dying or running off on an adventure, which meant that Chi-Chi was left with a young Gohan. Piccolo took Gohan into his care after Goku died for the first time and began training him in preparation for the arrival of the Saiyans. It was Gohan’s influence that helped change Piccolo’s demeanor and turned him away from evil. It remains to be seen if Boruto will have a similar effect on Sasuke.
13 The Controversial Design Change For Sarada
Boruto’s story was quickly hijacked by Sarada Uchiha, whose own father had stolen Naruto’s story out from under him. Naruto Gaiden was a transitional manga that was created by Masashi Kishimoto in order to bridge the gap between Naruto and Boruto. The fans quickly grew to like Sarada, especially as her story seemed like some high-grade trolling on Kishimoto’s part against those who opposed Sasuke and Sakura ending up together.
The fans quickly let their displeasure be known when the initial designs for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations were revealed. Boruto and Mitsuki’s were almost the same as before, but Sarada had been given a brand new design that sexualized her appearance. A pair of heels were added to her shoes and the shorts were removed from her dress in order to show off her legs. The top of her outfit had also been altered in order to make it less modest.
We should probably mention that Sarada is twelve years old.
Things came to a head in the thirteenth chapter of the manga, which included a scene were Sarada talks to Boruto while standing around in her underwear. This also caused a backlash on social media from the fans.
12 The Author Of Boruto Has Written A Book About Gaara
Masashi Kishimoto has taken a step back from the Naruto franchise so that he can catch up on the fifteen years worth of sleep that he lost while working on the manga. This means that new people were needed to write and draw the manga, which would later form the basis for the new anime series.
The writer of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is Ukyo Kodachi, who is no stranger to the series. Kodachi had previously written a book about Gaara’s life after the events of Naruto, called Gaara Hiden: A Sandstorm Mirage. This was the story of Gaara seeking a suitable match for an arranged marriage, as the elders of the Hidden Sand village were worried that Temari and Shikamaru’s son would have a claim to the position of Kazekage.

11 Boruto’s Name Is A Reference To Neji
Naruto quickly earned a reputation as being a series where the good guys rarely died. The team sent after Sasuke suffered some pretty horrific wounds (especially Neji) and they all pulled through. Gaara died and was brought back from the dead. The majority of the citizens of Konoha were killed by Pain… and were then resurrected by him. Kakashi’s body didn’t even have a chance to turn cold.
The huge ninja war that took up the last third of the series was even more ridiculous, as the highest-profile death was Neji. The rest of Naruto’s friends from his youth pulled through. A couple of the older characters like Shikamaru’s father passed away, but the majority of the main members of the cast survived the war.
Naruto went on to marry Neji’s cousin, Hinata. The two of them named their son in such a way as to reference Neji’s name. The name Boruto can also mean bolt in Japanese, while Neji’s name can also mean screw.
10 Kishimoto Is Fine If Naruto Dies In Boruto
Naruto managed to survive the events of his series and got to live out his dreams. This state of peace and love seems like it won’t last forever, though, as the opening chapter of Boruto hints that Naruto has been killed. Kawaki (the new villain of the series) suggests that Naruto is dead. We have only been given a brief glimpse of Boruto’s future, so we don’t know if Kawaki is telling the truth or not.
Masashi Kishimoto has claimed that he is fine if the creators of the Boruto manga kill off Naruto. He understands that the creators of the series must be allowed total freedom if they are to tell interesting stories, which could involve killing off the characters from Naruto.
The biggest question concerning the death of Naruto involves the Nine-Tailed Fox. Would it be free to roam the land again or is there someone around who could become the new Jinchuriki?
9 Boruto Has Already Had A Spin-Off
Rock Lee was the breakout character of Naruto for many fans. Masashi Kishimoto promised that he would return to manga at some point, but at a greatly reduced schedule. He claimed that he would be returning with a Sci-Fi manga in the summer of 2015. 6 Boruto’s Voice Actress Wants To Do More Movies (But Kishimoto Just Wants To Rest)
The reason why Masashi Kishimoto might not be returning with a new series may be due to health concerns. He has said in interviews that he couldn’t perform the weekly manga grind again at the age of forty. It was obvious during the second part of Naruto that he was making certain changes in order to make the series a lot easier to draw.
This is why the unique outfits worn by characters in the first part of the story were replaced with uniforms and why the enemy army was composed entirely of Zetsus. He also had to skip his honeymoon, which he wouldn’t be able to go on until the series had ended… a decade after his wedding took place.
The voice actress for Boruto in the movie and the anime is a woman named Yuko Sanpei. She was new to the series when she voiced Boruto for the first time, which is why she approached Masashi Kishimoto about writing more of them. His response was “I can’t, please let me rest now.”

A lot of information about Boruto’s eye was posted on the blog of one of the animators on Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. This technique is called Jogan and it is linked to Kaguya and her species. This eye technique will eventually allow Boruto to sense the negative emotions in other people. The animator claimed that all of this will eventually be revealed in the Boruto anime.
4 The Boruto Manga Is Being Drawn By One Of Kishimoto’s Longest Running Assistants
A lot of mangaka get their start in the industry by working as assistants on an established series. This is an essential role, as it would be almost impossible for an artist to produce twenty pages of new material a week on their own.
This experience allows the artist to learn how the industry works so that they can be prepared for when they want to strike out on their own. Eiichiro Oda originally worked on Rurouni Kenshin, as did Hiroyuki Takei. The two of them would go on to create One Piece and Shaman King respectively.
One of Masashi Kishimoto’s longest-running assistants was Mikio Ikemoto. He was responsible for drawing a lot of the crowd shots in Naruto, as well as coming up with the visual designs for characters like Haku and Zabuza.
It seems that Kishimoto has a lot of faith in Ikemoto, as he chose him to become the artist of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Kishimoto is the supervisor of the series, though it isn’t clear how much power he has over the story and its direction.
3 The Unfinished Business (Hidan & The Remaining Tailed-Beasts)
Naruto ended with most of the plot points resolved. It seems that Boruto will be facing brand new foes in his own story, as very few 0f Naruto’s enemies are still alive or are still villains. Boruto might have to deal with Orochimaru’s inevitable heel turn, but Akatsuki and Obito are now long gone.
There are still a few loose ends in the world of Naruto which could crop up. We know for a fact that Hidan is still alive beneath the ground of Konoha, as Kabuto was unable to create a zombie version of him using Impure World Ressurection. It’s possible that Hidan could return to exact revenge on Shikamaru and his son.
The other loose end involves the remaining Tailed-Beasts. There are still three Jinchuriki left– Gaara, Killer B, and Naruto– so we know where their Tailed-Beasts are. Masashi Kishimoto has stated that the remaining six are out there somewhere in the world. It’s possible that the Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, and Seven-Tails could reappear in the story.
2 Boruto & Naruto’s Relationship Is Based On Kishimoto’s Relationship With His Children
The final chapter of Naruto reveals that Naruto isn’t much of a father to his children. This is because he is the Hokage, which is the most important position in the village. Naruto is constantly busy with his job, which prevents him from spending time with his family.
It could also be that he doesn’t know how to connect with his children, due to the fact that he was basically abandoned by the village as a child. Naruto could leave the day to day work of being Hokage up to his Shadow Clones, yet he chooses to sequester himself from his family.
The relationship between Boruto and Naruto is actually based on that of Masashi Kishimoto and his own sons. He wasn’t there for most of their upbringing, due to the fact that he was working so hard on Naruto. Kishimoto has claimed in interviews that he is still working hard to try and connect with his kids, which formed the basis for what Naruto tries to achieve with his own son in the events following the end of the Naruto manga.
1 Boruto & The Jolly Roger
The final page of Naruto shows an image of the Hokage Monument that has been defaced by Boruto in an attempt to get his father’s attention. Fans quickly noticed that Boruto had painted the Jolly Roger of the Straw Hat Pirates from One Piece on Naruto’s image.
This seems to be a symbolic gesture on behalf of Masashi Kishimoto, as it references his real-life rivalry with Eiichiro Oda, who is the creator of One Piece. The two of them had been competing for the top spot in Weekly Shonen Jump since the early ’00s. The image of Luffy’s Jolly Roger on the last page of Naruto has been interpreted in several different ways: some think it is an admission of loss, while others think that it is a moment of respect for a worthy rival.
The truth of the matter is that One Piece and Naruto are fairly equal in terms of success. One Piece is a huge success in Japan, while Naruto managed to become a worldwide sensation. A lot of people were introduced to anime and manga through Naruto, which has helped the industry to grow and become more accepted.
