The last major event in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before Min Min from ARMS comes to the game will feature villains from various different video game franchises, as the Spirit Board will be filled with enemies during the Nefarious Ne’er-do-wells event.
The Super Smash Bros. series was once criticized for its lack of villains. The original Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 64 had no villains at all, although Bowser, King Dedede, and Mewtwo were considered to be part of the roster. Super Smash Bros. Melee only had Bowser and Ganondorf, while Super Smash Bros. Brawl added King Dedede, Meta Knight, Wario, and Wolf. The 3DS/Wii U Super Smash Bros. games brought back Mewtwo as a DLC character and also added Bowser Jr. (feat. the Koopa Kids) and Dark Pit. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate finally did the villain side proud, by adding Dark Samus, King K. Rool, Ridley, and Piranha Plant. The addition of the Spirits also allowed villains from different franchises to be represented by characters who are already part of the game.
The next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event will be centered around villains who are wanted by the law. According to the SmashBrosJP Twitter page, the Nefarious Ne’er-do-wells event will run from June 26 to June 29 and it will feature a Spirit Board that is stocked with wanted posters. Defeating the Spirits in battle will earn the player extra gold.
The enemies that will appear during this event include Baby Bowser, Kaptain K. Rool, Omega Ridley, Tabuu (from Super Smash Bros. Brawl), Waluigi, Lord Fredrik (from the Donkey Kong Country series), Zant (from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess), and Gharnef from Fire Emblem.
The Nefarious Ne’er-do-wells event will end shortly before Min Min joins the game. If Min Min works in a similar manner to the other DLC fighters from the game (excluding Piranha Plant), then she will also be adding another Spirit Board full of ARMS opponents for players to battle.
The Nefarious Ne’er-do-wells event in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will run from June 26 to June 29, 2020.
