Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

This year’s Overwatch Halloween Terror 2021 event will introduce creative seasonal skins, including a terrifying clown getup for Roadhog. Blizzard Entertainment’s team-based multiplayer shooter released in 2016, but it has continued to receive new content such as seasonal events and additional characters. Overwatch’s Halloween Terror event has been held every year since the game’s launch, allowing players to get their hands on new and old spooky skins.

Halloween presents a perfect opportunity for creative cosmetics, and Overwatch often celebrates the occasion with highly detailed skins for its characters. Each year, heroes are given new costumes to wear; with highlights including a werewolf costume for Winston, Wrecking Ball as an enormous jack-o’-lantern and Junkrat as mad scientist Dr. Junkenstein. Every year the Halloween Terror event also brings back “Dr. Junkenstein’s Revenge,” a unique PvE game mode where four players team up to battle against waves of computer-controlled undead. Overwatch’s Halloween Terror 2020 event introduced uniquely scary skins such as a Flying Dutchman outfit for Sigma and demonic appearances for Genji and Hanzo.

For Halloween Terror 2021, Overwatch will be adding an abundance of new themed cosmetics for various heroes. From October 12 to November 2 players will be able to earn Halloween Terror Loot Boxes, which contain special spooky items, and complete weekly challenges to earn special rewards. The first week’s challenges will unlock a brightly painted Skeleton Genji, while week two will unlock mythological Einherjar armor for Zarya. The third week’s skin, and perhaps the event’s creepiest addition of all, dresses Roadhog up like a massive demonic clown similar to Pennywise from IT. Other skins include Coffin Bastion, Draugr Reinhardt and Vampire Bat Echo. The beloved Junkenstein’s Revenge PvE mode will also return, along with an endless horde mode and new varied challenge missions.

Overwatch has always been praised for its seasonal events, with new quality skins arriving and interesting game modes returning each year. Overwatch’s annual Winter Wonderland event comes after Halloween Terror, usually in December, just in time for the holiday season. While the Junkenstein’s Revenge PvE mode is the focus of Halloween Terror, Winter Wonderland instead centers around a competitive snowball fight mode called Mei’s Snowball Offensive.

Despite launching five years ago, Blizzard Entertainment still supports Overwatch by delivering its seasonal events every year. The team-based shooter always includes memorable and detailed skins, of which add a lot to each character’s style and personality. While support for Overwatch is expected to slow down upon the eventual launch of Overwatch 2, the hero shooter is still alive and well even as fans join forces against the undead hordes in Junkenstein’s Revenge.
