Pokemon GO What Are Rayquazas Weaknesses

Pokemon GO is about to release its latest Legendary Raid boss, which means it’s time to master a new matchup. The new Legendary will only be available for a limited amount of time, so players who want to capture a high IV version of the Pokemon should master the fight strategies, so they can get as many successes in as possible.

Like all of the Pokemon GO level five raid bosses, Rayquaza definitely will require at least a few players to take down the monster in time. Once you have a small team of raiders assembled, you’ll want to keep the following strategies in mind as you head into battle…

Rayquaza is weak against Dragon-, Fairy-, Ice-, and Rock-type Pokemon. The creature is particularly strong against Fire-, Grass-, and Bug-types. With that data in mind, these are our recommendations for countering the latest Legendary Raid boss:

Articuno

Articuno with Frost Breath is going to be very strong versus non-Ancient Power Rayquaza. All of those hours spent chasing down the Ice-bird during those first weeks of Legendary raids will pay off with this fight.

Dragonite

Dragonite is another safe bet for this fight. When equipped with Dragon Tail and Outrage, he will be the best counter for non-Outrage Rayquaza.

Jynx

A Jynx equipped with Frost Breath and Avalanche will be a pretty fantastic glass counter for this fight, as long as you are stocked up on revives.

Kyogre

This recently released Legendary equipped with Waterfall and Blizzard will be an effective counter against Rayquaza with any moveset. Kyogre won’t put out the highest DPS, but it’s still the best choice when it comes to bulky counters in this fight.

Throw together a team with those four, get some friends together, and you should be good to go. For player lacking in the Legendary department; Cloyster, Piloswine, and Sneasel are also very decent choices if they’re equipped with the best Ice-type moves.

Good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
