It’s no secret that there is a lot to do in The Witcher 3. Even a simple playthrough is a lengthy experience since the game has side quests, an open world and some unique mechanics. However, even with so much to explore there are inevitably a number of relatable things that everyone attempts when they first gain control of Geralt.

Play Gwent Every Chance You Get

Gwent is a playable card game in The Witcher 3 that you can play on the side should you need some extra crowns. There are a variety of different cards to collect which are tied to some side quests in the game.

To collect all the cards, you need to play Gwent at just about any chance you get, even if the timing is absolutely terrible. Want to play against the Bloody Baron as he tries desperately to find his wife and daughter? You bet! How about a game with Lambert at Vesemir’s funeral? Absolutely! Geralt needs some crowns to get by after all.

See A Flying Roach

Roach is the trusty steed that Geralt takes with him throughout the large world, which has a few funny glitches scattered here and there. One of the funniest ones relates to this trusty steed.

You can dismount Roach for a few minutes, walk around and then when you try calling Roach back, he’s flying. Somehow Roach is able to do his best impression of a Pegasus, despite lacking wings or anything else that would make him fly. There is magic in the world of Witchers, but surely the different sorceresses of the game can’t even pull this off? It makes us wonder what else Roach can just magically do.

Try To Summon A Chort

When The Witcher 3 first came out it contained an exploit involving killing cows in the White Orchard, and meditating for a bit, so the cows would respawn. This could then be repeated before you sold the cow hides to a merchant, essentially allowing you to get rich quick. The developers took note of this and introduced a way to deal with players using the exploit.

Now, after you kill six cows, a monster called a chort – which is way above your level – will spawn and absolutely annihilate you for your animal cruelty. Once this news got out many players decided to try and find a churt, just to see if it really does exist. Trust us, it does and it’s worse than you imagine.

Forgetting To Prepare To Fight Monsters

The monsters of The Witcher 3 each have their own weaknesses that when exploited, help you kill them more efficiently. This is usually done by creating different types of oil as well as gadgets to exploit said monster’s weaknesses.

But of course you’re short on time you may well think that it’s probably no big deal. After all a Witcher contract is just a simple go and kill this monster to score some great loot like new swords and get your hands on some money. However, once you enter the fight, you may well have bitten off more than you can chew and now Geralt is another of this monster’s many victims.

Use Axii Every Chance You Get In Conversations

As Geralt is a Witcher, he is capable of doing different spells called signs, which each have a different use in combat. One of those signs is the axii sign that is normally used as a way of calming enemies and even hypnotizing them into fighting other enemies. This also has a use in some conversations as it is used as a speech check in the game to persuade others.

Using this leads to a better outcome for you, so why not use it every time you get the chance to? Just make sure you level up the necessary perks, otherwise be sure to prepare for an outcome where axii fails, and you now have to use your swords to end a conflict.

Get Too Into Doing Side Quests

While this happens to anyone who plays an RPG, it counts twfor anyone playing The Witcher 3 as the game is perhaps most famous for its in depth side quests. These stories are just so intriguing that you may often forget all about the main quest.

Forget about stopping the Wild Hunt, you have to plan to assassinate a douche ruler named Radovid V who is just a bit too obsessed with blood. You also have to help your old pal Dandelion open his bar and help Triss with helping the mages in the city of Novigrad escape persecution. There are just so many people who need your time.

Forget All About Saving Ciri

As a consequence of getting stuck into doing so many side quests, you will often find yourself ignoring the main goal of the game. That being, saving Ciri, so the Wild Hunt can’t use her elder blood for their own nefarious purposes. Oh, and to stop the end of the world.

Each time you’re off doing your own thing, you’re also increasing the chance that the Wild Hunt will get to Ciri which spells doom. Unfortunately, you need to do some stuff to increase your level and get better equipment, so you’re sure you’ll be ready to help Ciri when the time comes. She can take care of herself just a little while longer, right?

Pound Your Head Over Choosing Between Yennefer And Triss

Now comes the thing that each Witcher 3 player will deal with at some point. That being choosing the girl Geralt ends up with at the end of the game. Your main love interest can either be Yennefer, Geralt’s longtime love interest from The Witcher books, or Triss who was his lover in The Witcher 2.

There are a ton of things to take into consideration when choosing between the two sorceresses that will make you question your choices. Who has treated Geralt better in the past? Whose personality is better suited to Geralt’s? These are just some of the questions that you and many others have pondered. You could try to romance both of them but don’t expect things to end well for you.
