A new video from Netflix reveals two monsters coming up on The Witcher season 2. Geralt (the witcher) is pitted against a litany of mythical beasts in season 1 of the fantasy drama, with whom his job-slash-destiny demands he do battle. The Netflix show is based on a series of Polish novels of the same name (alternatively, “The Hexer,” depending on the translation from Polish), and it’s been a huge hit since premiering last December.

Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill, transformed by the modern magicks of makeup and weight-lifting) operates in a realm known as “The Continent,” which, much like Game of Thrones’ Westeros, bears a resemblance to a medieval-ish-era Europe. Witchers are rare, mutated humans with enhanced powers that enable them to slay the various beasts that plague human civilization on the Continent. Geralt travels aimlessly to pursue any monster-slaying job offers that may arise, but his moral code dictates that he kill only evil beings. Inevitably, many so-called monsters prove to be less evil than the humans he encounters. The show connects Geralt’s story with two other main plotlines: Princess Cirilla’s escape from her kingdom in pursuit of a “destiny” involving the witcher and the young witch Yennefer’s rise to power.

Netflix posted a “monster mash” of Geralt’s greatest hits on Youtube today as a Halloween treat for fans. The short video is a montage of creatures on the show, set to a classic holiday tune. Most of the critters will be recognizable to viewers who have seen season 1, but a closer look will reveal what seem to be two new foes (or friends) that haven’t yet made appearances. Netflix admits as much: the description for the video instructs fans to “keep [their] eyes peeled for a few sweet treats.” Scan the clip below for unfamiliar images:

Without getting into spoiler territory, the video’s newcomers appear to be a group of skeletons and some gnarly pile of viscera with one eye showing. Both are appropriate choices for the holiday that resemble decorations one might find in an enthusiastic neighbor’s over-the-top backyard Halloween display. The chances are likely that Netflix selected those particular images for their festive qualities—it’s possible that neither shot even shows an actual monster Geralt will encounter in season 2. Maybe the witcher is about to face off with the undead—skeletons and entrails certainly aren’t signs of life.

We already have some knowledge of what’s to come in The Witcher season 2 thanks to sneak peeks from different sources and, of course, the books. It’s been confirmed that Agnes Bjorn will play Vereena, a type of vampire called a bruxa. It’s unclear whether vampires will be a significant force in the TV show or just one of Geralt’s many conquests. Other season 2 characters have been announced, including multiple witchers and sorceresses, a gang leader played by Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju (Tormund), and an old friend of Geralt’s. None except Vereena are explicitly monsters, although Francesca, an entirely new character who isn’t in the books, is described as having a “sadistic demeanor.” Perhaps The Witcher season 2 will further explore where evil resides in monsters and men.
