It appears that the Warriors of Chaos and the Skavens may have bitten off a little more than they could chew, as scores of heroes are logging in to join the battle for Helmgart and the surrounding areas within the Empire.

Released on March 8th, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 continues its impressive ascent in sales numbers, having sold over one million copies in just over a month. Both the standard edition of the game and the collector’s edition attributed to the sales. The sequel to 2015’s Warhammer: Vermintide has also maintained a predominantly positive review rating, and is currently listed as the twenty-fourth top game by current player count on Steam.

In addition to the one million player milestone, Fatshark – the studio behind the Vermintide franchise – released an infographic with a few other fun facts surrounding the game’s numbers-to-date, such as nearly six million hours of watch time on Twitch, and eleven and a half thousand players finishing Skittergate – the final level – on the Legend difficulty setting. However, there is no indication as to when those achievements were actually obtained, in regards to the recent patch aimed at fixing Vermintide 2’s in-game difficulty mechanics.

At this point, the sky seems to be the limit for Warhammer: Vermintide 2. This can only aid in elevating Fatshark’s excitement, especially considering the road map that the studio has laid out for the popular title. According to the road map, Vermintide 2’s first batch of DLC is slated for an April release, which will introduce two new levels. Additionally, the road map indicates that this will also come along with dedicated servers for improved matchmaking and stability, as well as mod support for the game’s community.

While fans of the Warhammer universe may have been disappointed in the news that Relic Entertainment abandoned its work on Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, they can hopefully take solace in the success of Vermintide 2, and Fatshark’s clear focus on producing a solid product. Granted, the two titles are different in every way other than the shared Warhammer series name – Dawn of War III having been a real-time strategy, MOBA-hybrid, while Vermintide 2 is a first-person shooter/adventure game. Nonetheless, the Fatshark team clearly has a success on their hands with Warhammer: Vermintide 2, with nowhere to go but up.
