10 Rand – Loyal And Committed

From the first episode, Rand demonstrates that he is a good man with a kind heart and that, no matter what happens, he will always stand by his friends, his family, and those that he loves (making him one of the best heroes of fantasy). 7 Moiraine – Wise And Astute

Moiraine is one of the best characters to have emerged from modern fantasy, and she has a strength and a determination that make her a formidable Aes Sedai. She shows time and again that she is both wise and astute, and she understands the tremendous burden she bears as the one tasked with finding the Dragon Reborn and keeping him safe from those who would destroy him. Perhaps most importantly, she also points out to Logain that his belief in his status as the Dragon Reborn is nothing more than an illusion born of his madness. She’s thus designed to appeal to those who value logic, reason, and a commitment to duty.

6 Lan – Proud And Capable

As powerful as she is, Moiraine would have perished without the aid of her Warder, Lan, who is tremendously loyal to her. More than that, though, he is also very proud and capable, as he shows in his determination to keep Moiraine alive after her wounding by the Trollocs and in his general efforts to fight back against the Dark One (one of the most dangerous enemies in fantasy). Like Moiraine, he is sure to appeal to those who take duty very seriously and won’t be turned aside from a task that they have set for themselves, no matter the personal cost to themselves.

5 Nynaeve – Stubborn Yet Protective

Nynaeve is sure to become one of the fan favorites of this series, given how she combines stubbornness and protectiveness. She takes her protection of her fellow villagers very seriously, and she won’t let anything stand in her way when it comes to their well-being, even if that means getting on the wrong side of the Aes Sedai.

She’s thus sure to appeal to viewers who pride themselves on their own independent streak and on their commitment to protecting their loved ones.

4 Thom – Clever And Has Hidden Depths

Thom Merrillin, like so many other characters in fantasy series based on a series of novels, keeps something of himself hidden from others. However, he shows time and again that he has a formidable fighting ability, and his story about the way that he supported his nephew is a further indication that there’s much more to him than meets the eye. People who like to keep their secrets hidden from the general public will probably find themselves drawn to this aspect of Thom’s personality.

3 Liandrin – Devout And Principled

As a member of the Red Ajah, Liandrin has a certain hardness about her, and she definitely sees the world in her own particular way. What’s more, she also believes that hers is the only right way, even if that means going against the established laws of the Tower. However, she at least sticks to her principles, though she often keeps her true purposes hidden.

She’s the sort of person that appeals to those who are similarly dogmatic and inflexible in their approach to life and its problems.

2 Logain – Confident

Given that he’s convinced that he’s the Dragon Reborn, it makes sense that Logain would also be one of the most confident characters in the series, convinced of his own mission and rightness, even if that means that he puts his own life and that of others at risk. He’s the type of character that those who move through the world with a similar sense of entitlement and belief in their own purpose will find very appealing.

1 Ila – Sensitive And Devout

Maria Doyle Kennedy has been in a number of great movies, and she brings her powerful charisma to the character of Ila, one of the Tuatha’an, a group of pacifist wanderers. She has a deeply sensitive nature, but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t also have principles. Indeed, she holds fast to the Way of the Leaf, even though she has many reasons for not doing so. In that sense, she’s an ideal match for people who similarly hold fast to their beliefs, even when the entire world tries to tell them that they’re fundamentally wrong.
