First off, spoiler alert for anyone who hasn’t reached the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man’s main story!

One of the last things players see is Miles Morales effectively becoming a second Spider-Man. Peter Parker takes him under his wing and now we know the next chapter in the series will focus on Morales. The game, which will be a PS5 exclusive, won’t be a sequel, but a standalone title that follows on from the first game, and presumably leads into a second.

Morales is relatively new to the Spidey universe in the grand scheme of things. Parker has half a century on the teenager in terms of experience. That’s why casual fans are only just getting to know the new Spider-Man. It’s also becoming more and more clear that Morales might be a better web-slinger than not only Parker, but anyone and everyone who has donned the red and blue, or red and black, over the years.

Out Of The MCU And Into The Spider-Verse

The first mainstream introduction non-comic book readers got to Morales was via 2018’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Not only did Morales take the lead over Parker in that movie, but he was actively portrayed as a better and more dedicated Spider-Man than his older peer. Since the animated Spidey failed to annoy us even once during the feature, that also gives him one up on anyone else to have portrayed Spider-Man on the big screen.

Likability will get you a long way as a superhero, especially a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. However, without great power, Morales isn’t going to go far. Thankfully, he has already demonstrated that not only is he more powerful than any other Spider-Man, but also a tougher nut to crack than some of the other Avengers too.

Captain America Ain’t Got Nothing On Miles

Morales showed that by successfully fending off a symbiote. Not just any symbiote either, but Carnage, the villain Woody Harrelson will portray in Venom 2. Carnage bonded with Morales in the comics and tried to force him to kill J. Jonah Jameson. After the hero bit Jameson and tasted his blood, it prompted him to snap out of the hold Carnage had other him and resist his power. Parker has never managed that alone, nor has Captain America or Wolverine.

Speaking of his bite, Carnage wasn’t responsible for Morales opting to use his mouth to inflict damage on Jameson. This Spidey’s Venom Bite is one of his most useful weapons, and one of the main things he can hold over Parker’s head. His different origin story has bestowed different powers upon Morales, one of which is a venomous bite. If a situation is approached well enough, Morales can avoid chaos completely.

There’s also a far higher chance of Morales approaching a situation meticulously than other Spider-People. Although others have Spidey sense, none make use of it like Morales. Rather than using it to avoid devastating blows at the last second, the teen hero uses it to scope out buildings he needs to enter and pinpoint weaknesses. If Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales leads to a sequel where the new Spidey has to do battle with a symbiote-gripped Parker, we certainly know who our money is going to be on.
