It’s Xbox’s 20th anniversary so what better way to celebrate than looking back on some of its legendary moments. On Monday, Seamus Blackley, the father of Xbox himself, revealed that rock band Blink-182 encouraged him to chug a bottle of champagne at the E3 2001 After Party.

Blackley said that the punk rock band, known for releasing popular hits such as “All The Small Things” and “I Miss You,” encouraged him to do so “in a friendly way” after he introduced them to attendees at an exclusive Xbox event called iParty. In a previous tweet, where he retweeted a photo of the metallic iParty ticket dated May 17, 2001 — a month earlier than when E3 is held now — he mentioned that he was glad to have taken on the dare before the advent of social media. Who knows what would’ve happened to his career if a picture of him drinking an entire bottle of champagne at a company party wound up on Facebook or Twitter?

The original Xbox console launched on November 15, 2001, nearly six months after Blackley’s own one chug wonder. To mark this milestone occasion, Microsoft is hosting an anniversary-themed livestream. It won’t be announcing any new Xbox games, but it will be taking a “special look back at 20 years of Xbox.”

Xbox has plenty of upcoming games on its plate for this year, at any rate. Age of Empires 4 comes out on Thursday, followed by Forza Horizon 5 on November 9, the Game of the Year Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and finally Halo Infinite on December 8.

Microsoft is coming out with some other products to celebrate Xbox’s 20th lap around the sun. It’s releasing a custom Halo Infinite Xbox Series X in honor of the Halo franchise, whose 20th anniversary coincides with Xbox, and in commemoration of the upcoming release of Halo Infinite. It will also be releasing a translucent black and green Xbox 20th Anniversary controller and headset, as well as the fabled Xbox mini-fridge. Pre-orders for that ‘cool’ fridge opened up just last week, so get in there for its December debut.
