Board and puzzle game makers USAopoly (TheOp) recently announced a Limited Edition of Friday the 13th: Horror at Camp Crystal Lake board game. This Limited Edition is priced at $29.99 and available on TheOp online store and from your FLGS, but only for as long as supplies last.

According to TheOp, the Friday the 13th: Horror at Camp Crystal Lake board game is “the first officially licensed board game based on the iconic slasher franchise.” It’s a “press-your-luck survival game” where players act as camp counselors at the ill-fated Camp Crystal Lake. Players quickly find themselves involved in a five-night fight for survival against slasher movie icon Jason Voorhees, and possibly against one or more of the camp counselors, as well. Six quintessential slasher horror movie characters are present in the game for players to take the role of: The Diva, The Jock, The Nerd, The Nice Guy, The Partier, and The Final Girl.

The goal of gameplay is to survive by any means possible for the entire five nights. Players can simply try to find a safe and secure place to hide away from Jason and the other camp counselors, or they may attempt to brave the dangers to search for and collect valuable survival supplies. On their turn, players reach into the Camp Bag without looking and hope to draw out a prized Supply Token, which includes weapons such as an ax, frying pan, and meat cleaver. Flashlight and gas tank tokens may also be drawn and added to your stockpile.

However, a number of Jason tokens also exist within the Camp Bag. Drawing two of them indicates an encounter with Jason, who chases players back to the camp cabin, causes them to lose all their supplies, and forces them to cower in terror unable to take another action until the next round of play. Thankfully players have access to Fear cards that may be used to steal Supply Tokens from another player, or turn Jason’s attention from them to another player in order to escape.
