The female characters from Nintendo just know how to capture our hearts and we honestly couldn’t be more thankful to know of their existence. Names like Zelda, Peach, and Samus have made their mark as some of the most iconic female characters in gaming. Some might be damsels-in-distress, but their impact on the games they debuted in would not be the same without them. Imagining them as mothers not only makes our hearts melt, but they would be fantastic as one.

In some cases, mothers do not always have to give birth to become one. Raising them as their own is just as impactful as the ones who did give birth. Adoptive or stepmothers also play a huge role in their child’s lives when the situation regarding the birth mother is dire. This list will not only dedicate female Nintendo characters who are depicted with their own biological children, but also the ones that stepped in to become their motherly figure.

Some of the characters on this list already have become mothers in their own way, but depending on the player’s choice, the females might or might not be married to someone. Even if they are not canonically depicted with their possible children, it still makes us happy seeing them with their kids. And of course, we cannot forget the popular pairings Nintendo has to offer since they would be paired up no matter what.

Get ready to experience some adorable fan art with these Nintendo heroines reimagined as mothers.

25 Adorable Stepmom

Princess Peach has never given birth, as far as we know, but she has been called “Momma” by Bowser Jr. since Bowser tries his best to get her to marry him. Bowser Jr. might be taking after his father’s steps, but he is still a little kid that hopes for a motherly figure.

Even so, Peach holding onto Bowser Jr. is just too cute. Analu-Tloa made these two Mario characters feel like family, even if Peach does not enjoy it since being kidnapped is not so much fun. At least she is kind towards the young Koopa.

24 Their Precious Family

Even though Pokémon is more known about capturing creatures and traveling all over the region the player character lives in, the thought of them growing up makes us feel nostalgic. Look at Red and Blue from Sun & Moon for example. Pokémon Black & White were legendary games that brought one of the most popular pairings in the games, which is N and Hilda.

Pink-Hudy drew this couple with their son and they look like a very happy family. Since Hilda is one of the more older player characters, it makes sense how she is paired up with N.

23 Childhood Sweethearts

Earthbound is one of the most beloved games from Nintendo despite its number of games. Most of us probably do not know that much about it until Ness appeared in the first Super Smash Bros. game. Accompanied by his girlfriend Paula, these two look adorable with their children.

Alongside them are Jeff and Poo, with their adopted Mr. Saturns, and while he does look like a girl, the latter is not. BeagleTsuin’s awesome fan art of these four with their own families feels wholesome and beautiful.

22 In An Alternate Reality

Trust us, this will not be the last time you will see a fan art of Zelda characters having a family. To start off, we just had to go with Sheik holding a baby Tetra made again by the talented BeagleTsuin. Both of them are connected to Zelda in their own way and this fan art looks sincere and beautiful. Sheik being a mother in her own way would be that of care and caution, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

21 Strange Twist

Personally, we see Rosalina as an awesome character who is better off with no man, but she is usually paired up with Waluigi since they are two of the tallest human characters in the Mario series. However, seeing her have a family makes us happy. Aurore-Castle created a nice scene of Rosalina, Waluigi, and their daughter playing video games. Rosalina definitely looks confused on how the other two are playing the game, but it captures of what a modern family would do.

20 A Strong Guardian

Like some of the awesome females on this list, some don’t have to give birth in order to become mothers. Take this fan art made by Mitsuyuki32 for example, which features Palutena and Pit and Dark Pit as younger kids. The three look like family and the story Palutena is reading to them brings them together. If Palutena were to become a mother to her own biological children, she would rock the part despite being the ruler of Angel Land.

19 Choosing Her Own Path

Fire Emblem Fates might not have constructed the implantation of child units well, but having most of the playable characters have their own kids are nice. Female Corrin can have all children except for Shigure, who is Azura’s son. In S-Supports, Corrin will always have her son Kana (unless she marries Rhajat).

Kana is an adorable kid who loves his mom more than anything in the world.

Xxaylu’s art of these two reminisces of their support conversation when Kana gives Corrin flowers. The fact that Kana said that his mom’s smile is prettier than flowers just makes our hearts flutter.

18 A Tender Moment

Birdo might not be the most popular Mario character, but it doesn’t hurt to think that she and Yoshi are quite adorable together. This fan art done by RS-V22 gives us a fuzzy feeling we can’t help but awe in happiness.

Their daughter looks so precious staring at her father.

Birdo has it easy compared to the other ladies on this list for giving birth, but regardless, this sweet picture is just pleasant to look at. She and Yoshi would be adorable parents.

17 Strong Motherly Instincts

Here is Peach again, this time feeding Baby Luigi. Some of you out there are familiar with the artist SigurdHosenfeld, who has made a lot of fan art of Peach and other Nintendo female characters. This is his older work and even though the art in this is outdated, it still holds up as a nice drawing. Peach is honestly such a sweet character that she would gladly take in anyone who needs some motherly care. If she has to give birth to an heir, it makes sense for her to act motherly.

16 Spending As Much Time As She Can

Simply known as Fire Emblem here in the west, the seventh overall entry of the franchise became a huge success. One of the characters, Ninian, is a dancer who travels with her brother Nils. If she is paired up with one of the lords Eliwood, then they will have a son named Roy.

Their support in the game is the fastest to achieve.

Nana, who goes by rnizuka, does a great job in this beautiful fan art of Ninian and Roy at the beach. It is a beautiful moment and Ninian deserves all the happiness she can get with the two she loves dearly.

15 Not Alone

BeagleTsuin is at it again with more fan art of Zelda characters with a family! From Wind Waker, Tetra is a pirate who is awesome at what she does. She and Link did not start off on a high note, but as they spend more time, they formed a strong bond.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Link is the father here.

Tetra looks so happy with her children and even though she lost her mother, she would make sure her children are happy and safe. Her son and daughter are just having the time of their lives with their mom.

14 Becoming Their New Mother

Here’s Rosalina again, only this time with the Lumas. Like what we mention about Princess Peach, not every woman has to bring a child into this world. Super Mario Galaxy is where we discover that she became the mother of all Lumas when they couldn’t find theirs.

Emi-Liu’s fan art is cosmic and gorgeous. It might not be the most motherly of fan art, but it showcases Rosalina acting as a motherly figure and without the Lumas, she would be lost just like them. Like family, they stick together always.

13 Her Ocean’s Gray Waves

We mentioned Azura earlier while talking about Female Corrin, so here is the songstress from Fire Emblem Fates! Like Female Corrin, she is able to become the mother of any child unit except for Male Kana. This adorable fan art by DarkGreyClouds features her holding her son Shigure, singing a lullaby.

Eventually, Shigure will be able to have a singing ability just like his mother.

Even though in-game, Shigure does not have the ability to sing, he will still become an awesome child unit. Also, check out DarkGreyClouds’ Tumblr if you want to see more Fire Emblem artwork from them!

12 Blasting Off With A Family

Okay, we know that Jessie is technically a villain alongside her companions James and Meowth, but we honestly cannot leave her behind. She was never born evil and if she had been in different circumstances, she would not have been involved with Team Rocket. Regardless, she and James did quit Team Rocket and started a family in The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga.

In a way, they have redeemed themselves and stopped their villainy ethics after James confessed his love to Jessie. Berylunee has the gang looking so happy with their newly formed family and we absolutely love it a lot.

11 Their Scion Of Light

Some people might not know this, but Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War is the first game in the series to implement child units, a concept that Fire Emblem Awakening would use years later. Either way, the game’s first lord Sigurd and his lover Deirdre are smiling happily at their newborn son Seliph, who would become the next protagonist in the second half of the game.

Mt-Alexandrite from Tumblr drew this with care and wholesome thought. Those that have played or are aware of the fourth game of the franchise knew how beautiful, yet tragic this family drawing is.

10 Her Young One

Fans who are a huge fan of the Star Fox franchise tend to say that Star Fox Adventures is the worst since it is barely a Star Fox game. While it does take different routes, the game has a lot to offer, such as beautiful graphics at its time and new characters.

Krystal is one of the most compelling characters that fans drew their attention to.

Star Fox Command has an ending where she starts a family with Fox and she is in bliss. Kokoro-Tokoro brings the scene to life by having her with her son and we just love it!

9 The Simple Life In The Plains

25 Nintendo Heroines Reimagined As New Moms

While Marth is Japan’s first ever lord in the Fire Emblem franchise, Lyn is the west’s first lord since we were stuck with a tutorial mode in the seventh game overall. Lyn comes from a tribe in the Sacean Plains and discovered she is of nobility thanks to her mother.

She does mostly stick to her Sacaen roots, she is a fearsome warrior and an amazing character. She is displayed with her potential daughter Sue, where she can have an A-Support with Rath. Faunna’s artwork is fantastic and the two resemble each other very much in this lovely picture.

8 An Unexpected Surprise

25 Nintendo Heroines Reimagined As New Moms

Out of all Nintendo heroines, Bayonetta is the least likely to become a mother. However, fans managed to draw some cute fan art in situations where she has to look over a certain character as a parental guide. With Bayonetta is Cereza, who constantly keeps calling our lovely Umbra Witch “Mommy.” Even though it is not the case, these two look cute thanks to Wiissbb123600’s comic-inspired fan art. Perhaps Luka would be more than happy to start a family with Bayonetta, but she is just too awesome to settle down.

7 Together Forever

With Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! just getting closer and closer to the release date, fans were going crazy over Misty’s appearance. Her anime counterpart has a special place in our hearts and her relationship with Ash is one the most developed and cherished moments in the series.

Sunney90’s art of these two with their daughter is wonderful. If Pokémon took a different turn, then it is possible that Ash and Misty would have ended up together. For now, we can only dream of what could have been with these two.

6 A Loving Mother

25 Nintendo Heroines Reimagined As New Moms

Fire Emblem Awakening saved the series from its demise, and honestly, we are happy that it has become one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises. With a customizable avatar, whose default name is Robin, being able to personalize our own character internationally was a huge addition to the series.

If the Avatar is female, then she is able to S-Support with Chrom, the main lord of the game.

Within the two-year gap, Chrom’s daughter Lucina is born. This is HazuraSinner’s version of Robin holding baby Lucina and it is adorable and endearing. Being the mother of Lucina can even make the story a jiff bittersweet.
