Warning: Spoilers ahead for 2021’s The Addams Family 2.

The Addams Family 2 soundtrack boasts an eclectic variety of music that is a bit surprising as not all the songs are ones that necessarily fit the movie’s kid-friendly tone. But some elements are familiar as the sequel retains many of the same actors as the 2019 film. The Addams Family 2 cast of characters includes Oscar Isaac as Gomez Addams, Charlize Theron as Morticia Addams, and Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday, and also adds Bill Hader as Cryus Strange.

The story focuses on Wednesday and the question of her origins. When a stranger appears and claims that Wednesday may have been switched at birth with the daughter of a scientist, this throws the family into chaos. They decide to bring everyone closer through a family trip across the country in an RV. Along the way, Wednesday finds out about her possible biological family and begins to question her identity, deciding she wants to meet the family she might have had.

The second reimagining of the popular Addams Family movie series deals with the issue of confusing identity not only in its plot, but also in its soundtrack. There is plenty of Latin influence in the music, as well as a heavy dose of the work of Snoop Dogg, who returns to voice Cousin It. Mixed in are classic ballads like “The Sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald” and “I Will Survive,” mostly used for comic effect. In general, the music doesn’t match either the spooky or family-friendly tones of the film, but the song titles and lyrics speak to what’s unfolding in the scenes. It certainly makes the Addams Family 2 soundtrack a fun and diverse listen.

The Addams Family 2, 2021 – Every Song On The Soundtrack

“Welcome to the Madhouse” by Tones and I – At the start of the film, Wednesday presents her science project to the school. She successfully turns Uncle Fester into a squid (albeit slowly), frightening the entire school.

“Addams Family Theme” by Christina Aguilera – This remastered version of the classic Addams Family theme song plays over both the opening and final credits.

“Mi Familia (Serrano Mix)” by OPlus & Yoshi Flower & Rock Mafia – This song plays as they are planning and leaving on their road trip. It pays homage to the original theme while adding a Latin-inspired twist.

“Jump Around” by House of Pain – The family arrives at Niagara Falls, where Wednesday uses a voodoo doll to possess Pugsley, causing him to “jump around” and create chaos among innocent tourists.

“Mommy’s Little Monster” by Social Distortion – The family is back inside their RV driving around. Morticia is trying to get some chores done while Wednesday and Pugsley play loudly, disrupting her.

“My Name is Sam B” by Sam B – Before leaving on the road trip, the family ask Grandmama to house sit. Grandmama decides she wants to throw a huge house party, and this song is blaring when her guests arrive.

“Lifestyle” by Jason Derulo (feat. Adam Levine) – The house party in The Addams Family 2 movie is a slog. When Grandmama’s guests ask where the entertainment is, a barbershop quartet of severed heads arrives, singing this song to guests.

“Crazy Family” by Megan Thee Stallion, Maluma & Rock Mafia – The family arrives at the beach to relax; instead, Wednesday terrorizes fellow beachgoers while this song plays.

“Dynamite” by Afrojack feat. Snoop Dogg – A Snoop Dogg song always signifies the arrival of Cousin It, whom he voices once more in the movie. This song plays while they are at the beach; Cousin It arrives on a jet ski and decides to join the family on their trip.

“Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” by Gordon Lightfoot – This classic ballad plays in the background one night while Pugsley sleepwalks. It is revealed that it’s coming from the radio while Thing is driving.

“Deleter” by Grouplove – Presumably looking for something with more energy while he drives, Thing switches off Lightfoot in favor of this more upbeat song.

“Drop it Like it’s Hot” by Snoop Dogg feat. Pharrell – Unsurprisingly, this song is Cousin It’s ringtone.

“Dancing in the Show Tonight” by Ween – The Addams family arrives and Wednesday takes part in a beauty pageant, blending in as part of her questioning her identity. The opening number is the young girls singing a cover of this song.

“Lonesome Loser” by Little River Band – They arrive at a gas station, where Wednesday confronts her family about the man following them around. Meanwhile, the Addams family shows off their wealth by having Lurch use an entire gas tanker truck to fill the RV.

“What Chu Need” by Trill Zilla – Morticia asks Gomez where Kitty is because he needs a walk. Gomez makes a remark about how he and It need to rest after hitting the catnip the night before. This song plays while showing the pair laying on the floor with catnip hangovers.

“Who Can it Be Now” by Men at Work – The ringtone of the Doctor is quite symbolic, showing not only how dedicated he is to his work, but also hinting that he might not be who he says he is.

“Ace of Spades” by Motorhead – This rock anthem plays as a biker gang drives by Wednesday and Lurch. The pair are wandering down a road away from the rest of the family for some alone time as they believe Wednesday is not an Addams.

“I Will Survive” by Dominic Lewis – Wednesday and Lurch arrive at a biker bar. The patrons are not happy with them, so Wednesday asks Lurch to show the bikers what he can do. Lurch, with talent reviling Thing, plays the piano and sings.

“Happy People” by Donna Missal – Wednesday leaves the Addams for her biological family: the doctor, his (bird) wife, and their (pig) daughter, with the song implying that now, she’ll be happy and normal–even though she’s just denying who she is.

“It Ain’t Nuthin’ (Remix)” by Snoop Dogg and October London – The family returns home to Grandmama’s house party, believing it to be a welcome back celebration. It arrives back to serenade them.
