In a world where Captain Marvel’s incredible powers were taken from her, she has become a different kind of hero. In a new cover by superstar artist Peach Momoko, Carol Danvers’ mech suit armor is on full display, as it combines the best elements of her most classic costume while adding new details making the entire ensemble absolutely stunning.
Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe, as Carol Danvers’ energy manipulation, absorption, and projection powers are practically unrivaled among her fellow Avengers. Danvers is one of a handful of heroes who dawned the Captain Marvel moniker, which was originally sported by Mar-Vell and later Monica Rambeau. Originally, the hero went by Ms. Marvel before Kelly DeConnick and Jamie McKelvie redesigned the character in 2012. Since then, Captain Marvel has become one of the most popular Avengers, with actress Brie Larson portraying the hero in a self-titled solo MCU film and other MCU projects, including Avengers: Endgame.
In the current Avengers: Tech-On series by Jim Zub, Jeff “Chamba” Cruz, and VC’s Travis Lanham by Marvel Comics, Carol Danvers is among the heroes whose powers were taken away by the Red Skull after the villain obtained the Infinity Mirror Shards. In using the last remnants of the Infinity Stones, the Red Skull was able to depower Marvel heroes en masse. Everyone from Captain America to the X-Men lost their special abilities. To combat the Red Skull, Iron Man used some of the IMS to power up mech suits for the powerless Avengers, which replicated their powers. The suits are absolutely stunning as they’re essentially each hero’s original costume, but with mech elements. one of the coolest suits Tony Stark created was Captain Marvel’s, which artist Peach Momoko showcased in a stunning new cover for Avengers: Tech-On #4.
The cover features Captain Marvel emerging from a fiery blast as her colorful mech suit shines. The details are pitch-perfect, as it retains the core elements from Carol Danvers’ usual costume but adds some awesome new Iron Man-esque elements to the new armor. The most badass feature is the helmet, which looks somewhat medieval, but keeps the hero’s trademark mohawk.
