Make-up guru, cosmetics mogul, and vlogging personality, Jeffree Star, has gone to YouTube to reveal the heartbreaking news that he and his longtime boyfriend, Nathan Schwandt, have officially split. Star’s followers have been watching the relationship blossom over the course of Star’s journey to becoming the icon he is today.
Jeffree has become one of the most iconic makeup artists and cosmetics creator of the decade. Fans have watched Jeffree’s YouTube journey as he went from amateur makeup artists to grow into a household name. He created his bestselling makeup brand, Jeffree Star Cosmetics which sells products which include colorful eyeshadow palettes, concealers, lipsticks, and fashion accessories. Fans have grown to love the makeup guru and have been involved in all of his milestones in life – such as buying homes, welcoming new pets, and navigating family issues – so it comes to no surprise that Jeffree is being transparent about his emotional breakup with his boyfriend of five years, Nathan.
Jeffree went to his YouTube channel to explain what’s been going on in his life lately since he’s been off of social media entirely for the last two weeks. Jeffree titled the video “We Broke Up.” Jeffree said to his fans, “I never thought the day would come that I would be sitting here talking about this.” The makeup artist sat in his pink princess bed with his four little dogs around him, he revealed that he had tried to film the breakup video ten times because the emotions were too strong. He revealed to fans, “There is no easy way to say this, but we did break up.” He revealed that it’s been about two weeks since the decision had been made. Jeffree made sure fans knew that this isn’t “drama or tea” but that this is his “real life” which makes the news so much more emotional.
Jeffree told his fans that he believed he owed them an explanation because they have been there to watch him and Nathan’s relationship grow. He said first and foremost that he remains grateful for his time with his ex, saying that he was the only man that he’s ever loved, saying, “He was the only man ever confident enough to love me publicly – to love me for me, fully with all of my flaws.” He went on to explain that he was a secret in all of his previous relationships with men. He then revealed that during his two-week-long break in social media, news outlets had been publishing that his ill mother had passed. However, he revealed it was a rumor, but on top of his breakup with Nathan, he’s been dealing with his mother’s sickness and his 102-year-old grandmother who is currently not doing well. He revealed that he will remains friends with Nathan, saying, “Are we in love with each other? No. Do we love each other? Yes.”
He then urged his fans to really start of 2020 with a new found focus for their own mental health and gratitude. He revealed that he is really grateful for all of the support and love of his fans during the difficult two weeks. Jeffree revealed that he feels like he is in the process of healing and repairing his heart and focusing on himself before he gets back to filming and creating more makeup. Regardless of the news of their breakup really left fans shocked, as the two of them had just posted a tour of Jeffree’s new house.
