Warning! Spoilers for Kang the Conqueror #2 by Marvel Comics below

Marvel Comics just revealed Moon Knight has a major Marvel Cinematic Universe connection to Kang the Conqueror, as the Moon Knight of the Kang Dynasty was actually Ravonna Renslayer. In a new preview for Kang the Conqueror #2, Nathaniel Richards is nearly killed by Rama-Tut’s army but is saved by that timeline’s Moon Knight, who just so happens to be Kang’s longtime love and the character who recently appeared on the Loki series on Disney+.

Marvel Comics’ first-ever Kang the Conqueror series has taken a deep dive into his origins, following Nathaniel Richards as he travels across different timelines and learns more about his history as a supervillain. In the comic, an older version of Kang plucked Richards from the 31st century and transported him to the Cretaceous era, where he learned Kang’s biggest weakness: his love and loss of Ravonna Renslayer. However, after defying his older self and falling in love, Kang killed everyone connected to his young love. In response, Richards stole Kang’s armor and teleported away, as the older version was left to die with the dinosaurs.

In a brand new preview for Kang the Conqueror #2 by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, Carlos Magno, Espen Grundetjern, and VC’s Joe Caramagna, Richards finds himself in the time where Rama-Tut, a variant of himself, is ruling in ancient Egypt. However, after Rama-Tut’s forces nearly kill Richards, he’s saved by the timeline’s Moon Knight. The female Moon Knight tells him that the voice of the night told her a “hero from beyond the time comes soon from the sky to restore the ancient ways and end the pretender’s reign.” Of course, Richards doesn’t believe he’s that person, despite fitting the description to a T.

After taking Richards to the Temple of Khonshu, Moon Knight asks what brought him to their timeline. After telling her he was trying to escape someone who made him bow to him, Moon Knight tells her everyone bows to someone. Then, she takes off her helmet and reveals herself to be Ravonna Renslayer. Yes, Ravonna (or some variant of her) was Moon Knight.

Ravonna Renslayer, who had a variant recently appear in Loki, has been known to travel through time herself, so there’s reason to believe she’s telling the truth. Still, the fact she’s connected to Moon Knight is a complete shocker, as Marvel has never revealed she was the hero before this. It’s a fantastic moment that needs more context – but regardless, Moon Knight having an ancient connection to Kang the Conqueror is a surprising twist that could even have implications for the MCU one day. Kang the Conqueror #2 is in comic book stores next week.
