The world of drug trafficking is filled with ruthless men and Netflix series Narcos, as well as its spinoff Narcos: Mexico, highlight their brutality in lurid detail. As President Gaviria said in the first season of the original series, “God made our land so beautiful it was unfair to the rest of the world. So to even the score, God populated the land with a race of evil men.”

Even though the major traffickers like Pablo Escobar, Pacho Herrera, and Miguel Félix Gallardo commit plenty of murders with glee and gore, most of the bloody work is done by their loyal (and sometimes disloyal) henchmen.

10 Lizard

Alongside Blackie, Poison, and LaQuica, Juan Corrales aka Lizard is one of the high-ranking sicarios at the start of the Colombian story. He carries out many of Escobar’s orders including killing Jaime Carrera’s wife and distributing free money to Medellin’s poor neighborhoods in order to boost Escobar’s popularity.

Lizard is smart and manages to escape the authorities on several occasions. His crime adventure comes to an end when he gets killed together with Poison during a CNP-DEA joint raid at a night club.

9 Velasco

Velasco is more of a schemer than a killing machine. Nevertheless, he has zero respect for human life. He convinces Escobar that his lieutenants Fernando Galeano and Gerardo Moncada have stolen $3 million from him. This results in the two getting beaten to death inside La Catedral, thus earning Velasco a promotion within the organization.

After orchestrating a number of killings, Velasco gets captured by the Los Pepes death squad who torture him to make him reveal Escobar’s location. Instead of snitching on his boss, he outs three Escobar accountants. Despite his mini-cooperation, Los Pepes murder him and hang his body for the public to see.

8 El Chapo

In Narcos: Mexico, El Chapo is still years away from becoming the notorious drug kingpin that he is known as today. He starts out as Pedro Avilés’ personal driver but turns on his boss and helps Miguel Félix Gallardo kill him. Chapo is then recruited by the Guadalajara cartel where he serves as a henchman for Félix’s associate Rafa.

El Chapo’s seniors adore him because of his brutality. He doesn’t hesitate to murder the wounded hitmen working for Cuban drug lord Sicilia Falcon. He even suggests torching his warehouse, shocking Fonseca Carrillo. Chapo is very resourceful too. He builds lengthy tunnels under Tijuana, a move that earns him favor with his next boss Palma.

7 El Limon

El Limon is the last loyal sicario that Escobar is left with before his road of terror and crime hits a cul-de-sac. Limon starts out as a taxi driver and pimp, mostly ferrying prostitutes and their clients. Later, La Quica hires him to be Escobar’s personal chauffer after the prison escape.

Coming off as a good person at first, El Limon grows cold as soon as he begins working for Escobar. Despite knowing her for a long time, he shoots Maritza in the chest when she threatens to turn him over to the police. El Limon also gives Escobar one of his biggest victories when he helps set up the fearless Search Bloc leader Colonel Carillo for an ambush.

6 Tomas Morlet Borquez

Morlet is robotic in his approach. The corrupt DFS agent who appears in Narcos: Mexico rarely speaks a word. All he does is carry out duties that serve the interests of his equally corrupt superior Azul.

Morlet plays a part in the capture of DEA agent Kiki Camarena. He even suggests more torture in order to get him to talk. He also carries out a number of other assassin-like murders. But just as he lives by the bullet, Morlet dies by the bullet. He is shot by a policeman after the authorities realize they can’t arrest a DFS agent.

5 Blackie

Blackie is one of the men that Escobar always trusts to be by his side. Even when he makes a risky visit to the house of the communist leader, Blackie is one of the two men he goes with. He conducts several murders such as that of Kiko Moncada, who Escobar suspected of stealing from him.

He is also responsible for the shopping mall car bomb that kills hundreds of innocent civilians. One of his most memorable moments occurs in Narcos: Mexico when he kidnaps Guadalajara cartel boss Felix Gallardo during his Colombia visit and takes him to Escobar. Blackie is eventually captured by authorities but instead of giving up Escobar, he gives up La Quica.

4 Enrique Clavel Moreno

As Miguel Félix Gallardo’s chief henchman, Clavel carries out his boss’ orders but puts his own interests first. He has an affair with Héctor Palma’s wife Guadalupe Palma despite the fact that Félix doesn’t like the Palmas at all. When Félix orders him to kill Hector for planning to quit the Guadalajara cartel, he warns Guadalupe.

Despite the fact that he supposedly loves her very much, Clavel later shoots Guadalupe and her two young children before tossing their bodies over a bridge. Félix ultimately cuts ties with him, forcing him to take up a job as a boutique owner in Mexico City. His decision to warn the Palmas later haunts him as the drug lord tracks him down and beats him to death using a baseball bat.

3 Poison

Roberto Ramos aka Poison doesn’t have the tiniest bit of remorse. Neither does he value brotherhood as he blatantly tells Lizard that he wouldn’t hesitate to kill him if Escobar ever orders him to do so. When Pablo declares war on the authorities, Poison allows himself to be stopped by policemen at a roadblock, only to get out of the car and gun them down with a sub-machine gun.

And when Escobar orders the killing of the wife and child of the Avianca Airlines bomber to prevent them from linking him to the crime, Poison is more than ready to kill the toddler too before Pena and Murphy ambush them. Poison eventually gets shot dead inside a night club by Carillo, thanks to a tip from Murphy.

2 Navegante

Apart from being ruthless, Navegante is also smart. He manages to work with both Gacha—a top dog in the Medellin Cartel—as well the DEA’s Agent Pena. All along, his true loyalty lies with the Cali Cartel. Navegante helps set up Gacha for an ambush by Search Bloc and the DEA at his hacienda in Cartagena.

After Escobar’s downfall, Navegante helps his bosses take over Miami by linking them with the Medellin cartel’s contact El Leon. And right after the Cali Cartel gains complete control of Miami, he strangles El Leon to death.

1 La Quica

Juan Diego Díaz aka La Quica often looks worried and harmless but he is the most effective sicario at Escobar’s disposal. His first major kills are that of Miami distributor Hermann Zapata and Murphy’s first DEA partner. He is also responsible for recruiting the young man that carries out the Avianca Airlines bombing.

To top that, he recruits several young boys who he arms with guns and makes part of Escobar’s army in his war against the authorities. When he almost gets captured by the police while in an escort den, he gets angry and kills all the prostitutes.
