The world of Naruto is filled to the brim with memorable ninja, from the heroes like Naruto and Sasuke to characters that appeared only a few times like Pakkun. Sometimes these ninja turn to the dark side, which is represented in the world as the Akatsuki, whose mission changes often but typically involves kidnapping and killing Jinchuriki.
Pokémon as a whole seems to be much more child-friendly than all the death and murder of the ninja world – until fans read Pokédex entries. With so many similarities between Akatsuki members and certain Pokémon, the following are the perfect pairs between the missing-nin and Pokémon.
10 Deidara Could Have Made Claydol With His Explosive Clay
Deidara is one of the first Akatsuki members that fans meet in Naruto: Shippuden. This high-flying explosives lover is focused on two things; art and destruction. He is also fairly intelligent, often able to fool opponents. Using explosive clay, Deidara creates chakra-infused creatures that can explode when he wants.
His perfect partner is Claydol, a ground/psychic type Pokémon from Generation 3. This literal clay doll is based on ancient statues. Further cementing their partnership is the fact that Claydol can learn Self-Destruct and Explosion.
9 Hidan Can Use Bisharp’s Blades To Collect Blood
The Jashin-worshipping ninja, Hidan was raised in a village that turned its back on the ninja way in favor of tourism. After murdering many of his village’s ninja, Hidan left to join fellow Jashinists, and later, the Akatsuki. His special ability is using the blood of his enemies against them through self-sacrifice and being practically immortal.
The perfect partner for Hidan would be Bisharp, the Sword Blade Pokémon. Covered head to toe in blades, Bisharp is an excellent fighter and could help Hidan in collecting blood for his Jashin rituals.
8 Itachi And Corviknight Would Make A Fan-Favorite Team
One of the most loved and recognized members of the Akatsuki, Itachi Uchiha is the older brother of Sasuke and the person responsible for murdering the entire Uchiha clan. With a wide array of techniques from powerful genjutsu to disastrous fire-based jutsu, Itachi is one of the longest-lasting members of the group.
Corviknight works as his perfect Pokémon partner because Itachi already uses crows as companions and summons. With Corviknight’s immense strength, especially in its Dynamax form, it’d be a great fit for Itachi, though a Corviknight might not be on board with clan murder.
7 Kakuzu Is To Humans What Rotom Is To Appliances
Practically already undead, Kakuzu was the other member of the Zombie Combo with Hidan due to his ability to live through drastic damage. Kakuzu is shown to be fully stitched together because of his ability to add hearts to himself, giving him access to the immense powers of the heart’s original owners. This makes him extremely versatile as a fighter.
An electric/ghost-type Pokémon, Rotom is a solid partner for Kakuzu because it too is undead and can adapt to a variety of elements just like Kakuzu. Rotom is to electronics what Kakuzu is to the human body.
6 A Pair Of Sharks, Kisame Takes Water And Garchomp Takes Land
A distinct rival of Might Guy and Killer Bee, Kisame is a former member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist as the wielder of Samehada, and more notably, a shark man. When fused with Samehada, he was able to become a sharp, quick shark man with an increased healing factor.
Garchomp is the perfect partner for Kisame, though some may believe them to be related. Covered in spikes and wielding a hammerhead shark-like head, Garchomp is a pseudo-legendary land shark that could stand up to even the likes of Might Guy.
5 Konan And Kartana Use Paper Thin Slices To End Their Enemies
A former student of Jiraiya and one of the founders of the Akatsuki, Konan is a mysterious character as she never really has her own story told, except as a part of Nagato and Pain’s history. Her signature style of combat is the use of paper, which started as origami but evolved into being able to mimic environments and part of a lake.
There is no Pokémon more perfect for Konan than Kartana, a literal origami creature that uses its limbs like extremely sharp swords. Its edges are sharp enough to slice through steel, and it is misunderstood, just like Konan.
4 Nagato Is A Husk With A Soul Just Like Cursola
Having had a similar life to Naruto – starting his life as an orphan, being trained by Jiraiya alongside Konan and Yahiko, and having immense power – Nagato was poised to become the savior of the ninja world before being crushed by reality. Using his friend’s dead body, he killed Jiraiya and destroyed Konohagakure, only to be stopped by Naruto’s kindness.
Cursola is a top-tier partner for Nagato. Introduced in Pokémon: Sword and Shield, Cursola evolves from Galarian Corsola, which has been left behind by the receding ocean. In their loss, they gained a new evolution of a broken spirit in a husk, which is how Nagato felt until meeting Naruto.
3 Orochimaru Would Love To Work With Zygarde And Its Cells
Orochimaru is one of the most infamous ninja in the Naruto world. He has been a Sanin, an Anbu Black Ops member, a member of the Akatsuki, a terrorist, and even a parent. He uses snakes as his main summons but also uses several versions of reanimation jutsu. Orochimaru is also an incredibly skilled scientist – one of the most renowned in the entire world.
While many would choose Arbok or Sandaconda, Zygarde is the perfect partner for Orochimaru as it represents both his snake aspect, in its 50% form, and his science aspect.
2 Both Sasori And Mimikyu Are Sad Puppets
Sasori is one of the best puppet masters of the Village Hidden in the Sand, inheriting the natural ability from his lineage, which includes Granny Chiyo. After the death of his parents, he would create his first puppets, which resembled his parents, leading him down a dark path of adapting humans into puppets.
For his partner, there are plenty of puppet Pokémon, but Mimikyu fits the bill based on their backgrounds. They both have sad histories and turned themselves into puppets to try and fix the emptiness in their souls, though Mimikyu cries more than Sasori.
1 Obito And Phantump Died As Children And Became Tree-Kin
Obito, aka Tobi, aka Zetsu sometimes, has a long history in the Naruto universe. As a former teammate of Kakashi and student of Minato, he was always headstrong with a hidden power that came too late. After dying as a child to save Kakashi and Rin, he was revived by Madara Uchiha to take on a new quest of ending all pain in the world.
Literally the spirits of dead children that possessed a tree stump, Phantump and Obito share a lot in common, including controlling wood and being much nicer than they seem in their new forms.
