Pokémon BDSP How To Get The Lax Incense (& What It Does)

The Lax Incense is an item to be held by a Pokémon that players can get in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and it has multiple purposes. The Lax Incense is actually one of the two Incenses that was originally introduced in Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, alongside the Sea Incense. The Lax Incense has a passive effect on opponents in battle rather than the bearer, in addition to being used for a specific breeding method in Pokémon BDSP.

In most cases, the various Incenses found in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl usually have an effect that strengthens the bearer’s moves, though there are some that have no particular impact on the battle at all. The Lax Incense is within its own category, although it does impact how trainers will be able to defeat the various NPCs found in the Sinnoh region. It’s a highly desirable item, particularly for those who like to use gimmick strategies in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

First and foremost, the Lax Incense work mysteriously to lower the accuracy of the opponent’s moves by 10%. Although this seems like a great item, the Lax Incense is not held by any Pokémon on a competitive team. It’s not a raise in the bearer’s evasiveness, something like what Double Team or Minimize would do, nor does it have an accuracy reduction effect on an opponent’s Pokémon like Sand Attack. Rather, any given move used by the opponent has its accuracy lowered by 10%, so if the Pokémon holding the Lax Incense is defeated or withdrawn from the battle the effect wears off immediately. Furthermore, only when an opponent’s Pokémon attacks the Pokémon holding the Lax Incense in double battles are their moves’ accuracy lowered, but not if they attack another Pokémon that isn’t holding the Lax Incense.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl: Find The Lax Incense On Route 225

The Lax Incense can be found in the Battle Park in Pokémon BDSP on Route 225. As players head north on Route 225 starting from the southern entrance, they’ll eventually reach a house that sits at the bottom of a large staircase. To the left of the house are a few trees that can be cut down. The Lax Incense is inside this small area, slightly hidden from plain sight behind one of the trees.

The Lax Incense also allows trainers to breed Wobbuffet to produce Wynaut eggs when a female Wobbuffet is left in the Pokémon Day Care with another member of its egg group. Neither Wobbuffet nor Wynaut has any egg moves in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but Wynaut should know the move Encore when it hatches. This is a move that Wobbuffet only learns otherwise by using a Heart Scale in Pokémon BDSP, so the choice to teach Wobbuffet this move is in the preference of players, in addition to getting Wynaut’s Pokédex entry.
