Pokémon Sword & Shield How To Find & Evolve Vullaby Into Mandibuzz

Though it’s only half-hatched, Vullaby is unexpectedly sturdy straight out of the shell. By the time this dual Flying Dark-Type Pokémon evolves into Mandibuzz, it has built up durable HP and Defense stats. This buzzard is a rare bird indeed, making itself exceedingly scarce across Galar so, here are the best chances at finding one in Sword & Shield.

Finding & Evolving Vullaby

Vullaby is exclusive to Shield, so Sword players can only acquire one through trading or transfer from Pokémon Home. Vullaby is occasionally found amongst the ruins along Route 8 between Circhester and Route 7. The hatchling can also seldom be found roaming the overworld amongst the Stony Wilderness region of the Wild Area. However, the best chance of capturing Vullaby is amidst a sandstorm within the Wild Area’s Bridge Field region. Once captured, Vullaby evolves into Mandibuzz automatically upon reaching level 54.

Because Vullaby spawn rates are abysmal, Trainers will have better luck encountering one by way of max raids. Vullaby can be found in raid dens throughout Bridge Field, Dusty Bowl, the East and West Lake Axewells, Giant’s Mirror, Rolling Fields, and the Stony Wilderness.

For trainers who don’t care to raise Vullaby themselves, Mandibuz is nearly a guaranteed encounter, circling the skies of the Dusty Bowl. Trainers should prowl the area under the following weather conditions: fog, overcast, raining, thunderstorms, snowing, snowstorms, sandstorms, intense sun, and normal weather.

How To Utilize Mandibuzz In Battle

Physical attacks like Knock Off or Pluck will prove most reliable for Mandibuzz. However, Nasty Plot gives the Pokémon’s Special Attack a significant stat boost, creating an opportunity to utilize more potent moves like Air Slash and Dark Pulse. A Mandibuzz who knows Sky Attack could prove to be exceedingly lethal and serve as a great secret weapon for a trainer’s Pokémon team.

Mandibuzz’s well-rounded HP and defense stats pair well with its various abilities. Big Pecks protects against the reduction of this Pokémon’s defenses, while its Overcoat further protects Mandibuzz by granting immunity to the effects of multiple powders (Poison Powder, Sleep Powder, and so on.) Mandibuzz’s hidden ability, Weak Armor, sacrifices a bit of this defense in exchange for increasing the Pokémon’s Speed which can help gain the advantage in battle.

This buzzard may not be the beefiest fighter on the battlefield, but it can undoubtedly protect itself well enough. Mandibuzz deals respectable damage while guarding efficiently against incoming tactical blows, and its hidden ability ensures this Pokémon grows fiercer with the more hits it withstands.
