TNT has set the release date for Snowpiercer season 3. The post-apocalyptic thriller series is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette. The story was adapted into the 2013 film Snowpiercer, directed by Bong Joon-ho. Like the film, the series follows a group of survivors aboard a ten-mile-long supertrain. With freezing temperatures rendering the Earth uninhabitable, the planet’s remaining inhabitants are forced to reside on the constantly moving train. Snowpiercer debuted on TNT in May 2020, with season 2 following in January 2021.
Now TNT has confirmed a release date for Snowpiercer season 3, TVLine reports. Season 3 premieres Monday, January 24, 2022. TNT confirmed the news on Twitter, posting on the show’s official account, “This is one train you won’t want to miss.”

While Snowpiercer follows the same narrative as the 2013 film, the series introduces a new group of characters played by Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright, Lena Hall, Iddo Goldberg, Susan Park, Katie McGuinness, Annalise Basso, and Sheila Vand. Snowpiercer season two introduced Rowan Blanchard and Sean Bean as the devious villain Mr. Wilford. The upcoming third season will promote returning players Chelsea Harris and Mike O’Malley to series regulars.
Season 3 will pick up where season two left off, with the banished Layton (Diggs) and his inner circle taking control of a small “pirate train” in search of Melanie (Connelly). Though Melanie didn’t seem to survive the end of season 2, Connelly will be back for the third season. TNT confirmed that Snowpiercer was renewed for a fourth season in July.
