Warning! Spoilers ahead for Marvel’s WandaVision episode 6

In WandaVision episode 6, “All-New Halloween Spooktacular,” Billy and Tommy, the twin sons of Wanda and her synthezoid husband Vision, both manifested individual and unique powers, bringing them one step closer to resembling their characters from Marvel Comics. Next to their parents and recently arrived uncle Pietro, Billy and Tommy are now among the most powerful beings in the New Jersey town of Westview, which could grow to become more chaotic as the MCU series on Disney+ continues.

In Marvel Comics, the mutants Billy and Tommy grow up to become Young Avengers, working together alongside their teammates to save the world from all kinds of threats. Despite having just as strange of a conception in the comics (if not more so), Billy and Tommy become strong forces for good, using their powerful abilities to keep people safe. While Tommy takes on the name Speed, Billy eventually becomes Wiccan in the Marvel Comics universe known as the 616.

However, WandaVision episode 6 sees the twins’ powers just beginning to activate during a night of trick-or-treating on Halloween with Wanda and Pietro, all while Vision is off investigating the strange events occurring throughout Westview. Additionally, Billy and Tommy’s powers are more basic than they are in the comics, potentially leaving room for them to develop further as WandaVision continues.

WandaVision’s Billy & Tommy Powers Explained

WandaVision Billy & Tommy’s Powers Explained

In WandaVision episode 6, Billy and Tommy still look to be around the age of 10, and they’re both very excited to go trick-or-treating with their mother and uncle Pietro, who just arrived to town in the previous episode (much to Wanda’s surprise). Playing off the themes and style of the classic sitcom Malcom in the Middle from the early 2000’s, Evan Peters’ version of Quicksilver gets himself and the boys into all kinds of lighthearted trouble and hijinks, and Tommy in particular absolutely adores their uncle. As a result, it’s no surprise that his powers soon manifest, granting him super-speed abilities just like uncle Pietro’s.

However, Billy’s powers would activate later on in the episode when he sensed that the Vision was in danger, as their father had determined to try and breach the perimeter and hex of energy Wanda had placed around their town. Going beyond his newfound telepathy and heightened awareness, Billy also displayed a propensity for telekinesis just like his mother, stopping his brother from running so they could go and alert Wanda that Vision needed help, as he was beginning to die on the other side of the barrier.

Wiccan & Speed’s Comics Powers Explained

WandaVision Billy & Tommy’s Powers Explained

In the comics, Wiccan and Speed’s powers are a bit more dynamic. While their core abilities are very similar to Wanda and Pietro’s just like in WandaVision, there are some things they each can each do that goes beyond their mother and uncle. For example, Speed can run at supersonic speeds just like Quicksilver, while also having an increased durability and strength in order for his body to handle the rigors of the high speeds he’s now able to achieve. While it’s yet to be seen from Tommy or Pietro in the MCU, their comics counterparts can also vibrate themselves and become temporarily intangible, allowing themselves to pass through walls and other obstacles. However, Speed can also do things Pietro can’t. For example, Tommy is able to vibrate the internal frequency of objects, accelerating their kinetic energy until they literally explode.

Wiccan also has some different capabilities in the comics as well. While his magical abilities stem from his genes rather than through training or some kind of artifact just like Wanda, it’s long been implied that Wiccan will become more powerful than Scarlet Witch ever could be. Wiccan can alter reality itself, which he often uses to give himself powers such as flight, lightning blasts, as well as force fields to protect himself and his allies. He can use his power to teleport as well. Additionally, Wiccan often has to vocalize many of his spells and what he’s intending to do as a means to focus his mind on what he wants to have happen. Even so, it’s widely believed by many magic users in the 616 universe that Wiccan will one day become an incredibly powerful sorcerer, perhaps even one day taking over Doctor Strange’s job as the Sorcerer Supreme.

Why WandaVision Changes The Twins’ Powers

At the moment, Billy and Tommy’s powers are much more streamlined and not as fleshed out in Marvel’s WandaVision, which makes sense all things considered. Wanda’s twin boys are still young children after all, and they still have much to learn. Likewise, there’s still plenty of time for their abilities to develop further as the series continues (and potentially down the line for the MCU’s future), so long as they don’t age up faster than normal like they did in the last episode.

Furthermore, if Tommy and Billy were as powerful as they are in the comics, that could certainly detract from the main focus of the series itself, which is Wanda struggling to maintain her happy ending, all while Vision tries to resist and discover what’s really going on in Westview, which will no doubt lead to an inevitable clash of mayhem and possible tragedy.

However, it’s quite possible that Wanda’s powers may grow to become too much for her to control on her own as the series continues, leading to ultimate disaster and massive amounts of potential destruction. Perhaps Billy will step up to help her, displaying his own ability to warp and rewrite reality? On the other hand, things could grow to become so bad that Billy and Tommy are the only ones able to stop her, leading to the twins having to fight their own mother. Hopefully it won’t come to that, and Billy and Tommy will be able to survive the inevitable chaos that’s headed for Westview as Marvel’s WandaVision enters its final episodes on Disney+.
