Ted Lasso season 2, episode 3, “Do the Right-est Thing,” introduces Nora to the show, and here’s who plays the new fan-favorite character. The third episode juggles multiple storylines revolving around AFC Richmond, such as Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) getting the team to accept Jamie Tartt’s (Phil Dunster) return as Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh) protests Dubai Air. But Ted Lasso season 2 also featured the debut of a character that the show has only teased in the past.

One of the subplots of the most recent Ted Lasso episode saw Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) care for her goddaughter Nora. Rebecca’s best friend, Flo “Sassy” Collins (Ellie Taylor) goes out of town and leaves Nora with Rebecca for the weekend. It gives Rebecca a chance to repair the relationship, which she’d let languish for the past six years, being caught up in her terrible marriage. Although Rebecca initially tries to treat Nora as if she were still a child, she eventually learns that the best way to make sure Nora has fun is to include her in the normal, everyday life of the owner of AFC Richmond football team. This includes bringing Nora to work, letting her sit in meetings, and even meeting the entire team – including her favorite player, Sam.

The first season of Ted Lasso teased Nora and the close relationship Rebecca used to have with her, but she never appeared before. “Do the Right-est Thing” is where viewers finally got meet Nora, who is played by newcomer Kiki May. In addition to providing a glimpse at the spark between Rebecca and Nora that made them so close in the past, Nora’s debut gave the show an injection of youthful enthusiasm. Audiences are already enamored with Kiki May’s hilarious and scene-stealing performance, with her sassy attitude upstaging even the most seasoned actors in the episode. Those curious about what else May has been in will likely be surprised to learn that this is her first credited acting role, making Ted Lasso a remarkable debut for the bright young star.

Kiki May’s IMDb page is almost completely bare at the moment, but that is likely to change after her Ted Lasso role. She only has one other role that is officially announced, as “Paper Girl” in The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. The autobiographical film chronicling the life of artist Louis Wan stars Benedict Cumberbatch and several other notable English actors, including The Crown’s Claire Foy, Loki’s Sophia Di Martino, Toby Jones, and Andrea Riseborough. While May’s role in The Electrical Life of Louis Wain will be rather small, it is expected to release on Amazon Prime Video sometime in 2021, giving those curious to see more of the young actress chance to see her again soon.

Now that Kiki May has left such an impression on Ted Lasso viewers, hopefully this will be a breakout role for her at the start of her career. May had excellent comedic timing in the show and immediately clicked with Waddingham, as well as with other characters she interacted with during the episode. While plenty of child actors can stand out (in a bad way) early on in their careers, May seems to be a natural. Now that Rebecca and Nora’s relationship is repaired, hopefully it won’t be long before Kiki May is back on Ted Lasso, whether that is in another season 2 episode or season 3. It’s even possible she’ll become a new Ted Lasso recurring character.
