Some Disney princesses were born into royalty, meaning they spent their entire lives in large and luxurious castles. Others came from more modest means and grew up in smaller places, and then they wound up in pretty palaces later on in life.

From cute cottages to magnificent masterpieces, Disney has shown off some very memorable houses over the years. And while many fans can instantly recognize and appreciate iconic spots like Cinderella’s castle and Rapunzel’s tower, look closer – the homes belonging to the official Disney princesses are filled with so many other adorable details to locate, learn about and love.

Rapunzel spent a major portion of her life locked up in a tower, where she had to entertain herself. One of her hobbies was painting, and the inside of her house was covered in murals.

This may have been showing off her interest in the sky, may have been something she thought would just look aesthetically pleasing and/or may have helped her determine when the next lantern lighting festival would be.

Aurora was born a princess, but she had to hide away from Maleficent as Briar Rose. So, she lived with the three fairies in the Woodcutter’s Cottage.

Located in the forest, it had a tree growing down over it, with roots that encircled the door. And inside, trees helped make up other parts of the home, such as stairs and walls. How quaint!

Before Cinderella moved into a castle, she resided in a charming château. Of course, her evil stepmother forced her to live alone, up in the tower, and bossed her around, using a bell system.

So, while the inside of this abode may have been unpleasant, the outside was so cute, with the pumpkin-filled garden, the stables and the vine climbing up the structure.

The history of a building can add to its appeal, and there were a couple of interesting stories associated with Tiana’s Palace. It wasn’t an actual palace, nor was it even a place to live – it was Tiana’s restaurant.


Once upon a time, it had been a sugar mill, and Tiana’s father dreamed of turning it into an eating establishment. This Disney princess ran with that idea, repurposing the mill and making dreams come true.

Jasmine lived in the Sultan’s Palace, and it echoed the man’s style. Both the Sultan and the palace included hues of golds and creams, and they both featured rounded designs.

Yes, the Sultan was a short and squat man, the palace had bulb-like structures on the top. The throne room displayed an elephant throne and rounded columns and decorations. When Jafar took over, those curves became sharper, to echo his shape and demeanor, and the elephant throne even became a cobra.

While every Disney castle is unique, they all have an elegance to them. But at Castle DunBroch, it was all about being strong and simple. The outside of this house was built like a fortress, and the interior was also rugged, with its stone fireplaces, stables and trophy room showing off stuffed animals.

It honestly looked like something out of Game of Thrones, and it was refreshing to see a new way of living for these royal characters.

1 Outdoor Area Of The Fa Family Home

Inside and out, there are adorable details and decorations to love in every princess’ place, but the outdoor area is what really shines when it comes to Mulan’s home.

The temple, shrine, gate, stable, fields, bench under the cherry blossom tree and the garden with its stream, bridge and dragon statue all provided memorable locales for this tale to take place.
