Launched in March 2021, Paramount+ is the latest service to join the streaming world. Owned by ViacomCBS, Paramount+ is the premier destination for content created by channels like CBS, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Comedy Central. As the newest streaming service though, Paramount+ is still working on building its content slate which includes holiday options.

While there are tons of Christmas-themed episodes of TV available to stream on Paramount+, their Christmas movie catalog is sparse. Still, there are a handful of Christmas gems on the streaming service especially for young viewers and their families.

A Christmas Carol (1984)

Famously adapted from Charles Dickens’s iconic novella of the same name, the 1984 A Christmas Carol was a made-for-TV movie created for British and American audiences. The movie follows Dickens’s novella closely and centers on Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future in the hopes of teaching him a lesson about his greed.

While not the popular A Christmas Carol adaptation, it is a great one to watch especially for Paramount+ subscribers looking for something to get them into the holiday spirit.

A Christmas In New York (2016)

Released in 2016, A Christmas In New York was a made-for-television holiday movie. The story follows six different couples who are staying at a posh Manhattan hotel for the holidays. Taking place over one night, the couples all experience the highs and lows of love while some of their stories intersect.

A Christmas In New York is the perfect holiday movie to stream for fans of Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve which both are similar in structure and tone.

A Fairly Odd Christmas (2012)

The Fairly OddParents is one of Nickelodeon’s most memorable and longest-running shows of all time. Constantly experimenting with different animation styles, the series ventured into the live-action realm with the release of the 2012 made-for-tv movie A Fairly Odd Christmas.

Now an adult, Timmy, and his trusty fairies have kept themselves busy traveling the world to grant wishes for other small children who don’t have fairies of their own. However, their good deed turns sour when kids stop believing in Santa because of Timmy’s magic. Now Timmy must work with Santa to get everyone to believe again.

A Loud House Christmas (2021)

Since The Loud House is one of Nickelodeon’s most successful animated shows of recent years, it’s no surprise the series got a live-action made-for-tv movie in 2021. While the series has had many animated Christmas episodes over the years, this is the first-holiday movie and movie ever for the show.

Excited to spend Christmas with his family, Lincoln’s plans are put on hold when he learns his sisters have made Christmas plans of their own that don’t involve him. With the rest of the family planning to go on vacation, Lincoln sets out to save Christmas and all his favorite family traditions before they leave.

Christmas In The Heartland (2017)

Christmas in the Heartlands centers on two teenagers who are both traveling to the heartland for the holidays to each meet estranged grandparents for the first time. As they share the same frustrations about their situation, the girls decide to switch places for the holidays to shake things up.

While initially annoyed, the girls begin to bond with each other’s grandparents in ways they never imagined. Christmas in the Heartlands is a feel-good Christmas movie that’s perfect for fans of Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies.

Christmas Survival (2018)

Released in 2018, Christmas Survival centers on two sisters who drag their families back to their childhood home to spend Christmas with their parents. Of course, problems begin right away especially as the ladies realize that their parents’ house is in a dilapidated slate.

This British holiday movie isn’t for everyone and certainly doesn’t have the best reviews on Rotten Tomatoes but it does have hilarious moments like most dysfunctional family Christmas movies do.

Daddy’s Home 2 (2017)

While sequels don’t usually take on a holiday theme, that’s exactly what happened with Daddy’s Home 2. It’s still too early to tell if Daddy’s Home 2 will be a Christmas classic but it’s certainly worth the watch if one hasn’t seen it before.

The movie centers on Dusty and Brad, two parents who have finally figured out how to co-parent Dusty’s two children. However, their routine is thrown for a loop when the holiday season comes around and both Dusty and Brad’s own fathers pay unexpected visits.

Santa Hunters (2014)

Santa’s Hunters is one of Nickelodeon’s many made-for-TV holiday movies. Released in 2014, the movie centers on Alex, a young boy who has made it his mission to get prove that Santa still exists. After capturing Santa on security cameras, he makes a believer out of his sister and cousins.

Realizing seeing is believing, Alex sets out to show anyone his footage but quickly learns the error in his ways because Santa loses a bit of magic every time someone sees him. Now the kids must stop an adult from selling the Santa footage to save Christmas.

Surviving Christmas (2004)

When it comes to Christmas romantic-comedies, Surviving Christmas is largely forgotten. Unlike some forgotten movies, Surviving Christmas sort of deserves its title since it was considered a massive box office flop and was even nominated for Worst Picture at the Golden Raspberry Awards.

The movie centers on Drew, a lonely executive who decides to visit his childhood home around the holidays because he’s feeling nostalgic. Things get weird when Drew decides to pay the new residents of his childhood home to act as his parents so that he won’t be lonely. Though panned, there’s a fun cast that makes it worth checking out to some viewers.

Tiny Christmas (2017)

Released in 2017, Tiny Christmas is yet another Nickelodeon made-for-TV holiday movie. The movie begins when a clumsy elf accidentally shrinks two cousins down to miniature size on Christmas Eve. As if that’s bad enough, the cousins are accidentally scooped up in Santa’s sack and taken from their home.

Stuck at their neighbor’s house, the cousins must figure out a way to get home while avoiding their neighbor’s mischievous cat who wants to eat them. Tiny Christmas is a great family movie that everyone can enjoy together.
