Fans typically love it, regardless if it’s two brothers, a brother/sister combo, or what we’re here to discuss today, two sisters.

Some of the on-screen sisters that we’ve watched have gone on to become iconic duos. We’re going to look at some of those to select the best sister duos in film. That means any group of three or more sisters like those in Pride and Prejudice won’t make the list. Other than that, there are no restrictions.

10 Ramona And Beezus (Ramona And Beezus)

When a movie is named after the sisters it focuses on, you know it will be the focus. That was the case with 2010’s Ramona and Beezus. Based on the popular Beverly Cleary book series, this film starred Selena Gomez (Beatrice) and Joey King (Ramona) as the siblings.

Their relationship is everything in this film. Ramona has a mammoth imagination and can be more than a little annoying. Beezus is the traditional older sister who is kind of too cool for her. And yet she’s there for her little dreamer of a sister and it’s heartwarming.

9 Wichita And Little Rock (Zombieland)

At first glance, this might seem like an odd pick. But if you think about it, there aren’t many sisters with a stronger connection than these two. In Zombieland, Wichita and Little Rock are siblings who have survived in the zombie-infested world because they always look out for each other.

But that concept went back further. A flashback revealed that they have been on their own for a long time. It’s endearing that most of Wichita’s actions are done to make her little sister happy or to protect her. The plot of both movies in this series has kind of revolved around these sisters.

8 Lilo And Nani (Lilo & Stitch)

Lilo & Stitch is one of the most underrated Disney movies in recent memory. Nobody seems to talk about it when they mention the cream of the crop but it deserves more love. One of the biggest reasons why is the relationship between Lilo and her sister Nani.

What makes their bond so special is that they’re all each other has. Following the death of their parents, Nani has to take care of her little sister. It isn’t easy considering Lilo’s penchant for getting into trouble. Nani is both a sister and a mother to Lilo, which is something not many siblings on the list can match.

7 Kate And Maura (Sisters)

It seems like whatever Tina Fey and Amy Poehler do together, people love it. That’s what happened on Saturday Night Live and in Baby Mama. But in 2015’s Sisters, they finally shared the screen as the siblings they were seemingly born to play. Though the movie got middling reviews, the chemistry between Fey and Poehler was the highlight.

Kate (Fey) was the older sister yet she’s the wild and irresponsible one, while Maura (Poehler) was the gentle and sweet one. In this film, they returned to their childhood home to clean out their old room before their parents sold it. The pair threw a party to celebrate the house but it went off the rails. All the while, Kate and Maura saw their relationship grow stronger.

6 Katniss And Prim (The Hunger Games)

The entire odyssey of The Hunger Games franchise doesn’t happen without these two. Primrose Everdeen was randomly selected to compete in the barbaric killing contest. Her older sister Katniss immediately volunteered to take her place and set the entire series into motion.

The rest of the installments helped to build on that relationship. Though they weren’t always the most screen time together they made the most of it. Though the focus was on Katniss’ love triangles, this was often the emotional apex. It’s why Prim’s death in the final movie hits us like a ton of bricks.

5 Annie And Hallie (The Parent Trap)

The only thing stronger than the connection between two sisters is one between two twin sisters. So it makes sense that Annie and Hallie from The Parent Trap would be included on this list. Having been separated at birth due to divorcing parents, these two girls knew nothing about each other.

They met at camp and were rivals at first. But when they realized who they were to each other, their friendship became something special. You can’t help but love watching them put together wild plans to bring their family together. It’s endearing.

4 Kat And Bianca (10 Things I Hate About You)

1999’s 10 Things I Hate About You was a modern spin on the classic tale The Taming of the Shrew. At the heart of the story were sisters Katarina (Julia Stiles) and Bianca Stratford (Larisa Oleynik). These two were at odds from the start because of their opposing desires.

Bianca wanted the freedom of a normal high school experience but was forbidden to do so until Kat went on dates, which Kat never did. As much as they bickered throughout the film, you could tell there was true love there. It showed in the end when they stuck up for each other in a touching moment.

3 Dottie And Kit (A League Of Their Own)

It’s another case of two sisters who were constantly at each other’s throats. In A League of Their Own, those ladies were Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis) and Kit Keller (Lori Petty). Though they got along on the surface, Kit always struggled with living in the shadow of her impressive and successful older sister.

They became teammates when women were brought in to play professional baseball. Kit continued to have problems and it led to her getting traded. The sisters faced off in the World Series, where it came down to Kit knocking Dottie over to win the title. The sisters reconciled but we loved every second they shared.

2 Gamora And Nebula (Guardians Of The Galaxy)

When we were first introduced to Gamora and Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy, nobody expected to love them the way that we do. They seemed like generic henchwomen for Thanos and Ronan. Gamora turned to the good side but Nebula remained an antagonist who wanted to kill her. But in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we learned more.

Nebula told a heartbreaking story about Gamora always needing to beat her when all she wanted a sister. It marked a turning point for them. Since then, the two will do anything for each other. We’ve been treated to plenty of great moments featuring them. Gamora even gave up an Infinity Stone to save Nebula and their bond was a turning point during the battle in Avengers: Endgame.

1 Anna And Elsa (Frozen)

Forget about the gorgeous visuals. Forget about the lovable side characters. You can even forget about tunes like “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” and “Let It Go.” The reason that Frozen is so beloved and became the highest-grossing animated movie of all time is Anna and Elsa.

It was another situation where one sister is in the shadow of another. Anna could never live up to Elsa and her magical powers. But the two go to great lengths to help and save each other throughout. The best part was that Frozen put a twist on the “act of true love” trope in fairy tales. Instead of it being a prince and princess, it was the love between two sisters that saved the day.
