10 Pokémon Wed Want To See In Another LiveAction Movie

Detective Pikachu featured a butt load of our favorite Pokémon in the franchise’s first live-action movie. From Psyduck, Mewtwo, Charizard, Greninja, and the film’s titular hero, it was a dream come true to see the Japanese monsters come to life, especially for any millennial who grew up in the franchise’s heyday. With a sequel expected to be released in the next few years, it’s only natural to expect more Pokémon to make an appearance. With nearly 100 Pokemon featured in Detective Pikachu, we had to go through our Pokedex’s to find ten more Pokémon that we want to see in live-action that weren’t in Detective Pikachu.

10 Dragonite

Dragonite is the most lovable Dragon since Disney’s Pete’s Dragon in the ’70s. When you see him, you just want to give the guy a big ole hug and have him on your team. Along with its charming appearance, it’s also one of the strongest Pokémon around. Should it appear in the sequel, we can see Dragonite taking the role of a supporting character that helps our heroes out. It’d sure make a lot of fans happy since it’s not available in Sword and Shield yet.

9 Espeon and Umbreon

Eevee’s cameo in Detective Pikachu helped show off how far special effects have come when it was evolved into Flareon. Not only was it amazing to see a Pokémon evolve outside the typical blue/white light used in the games and TV show, but it was also a pretty impressive effect. So, for the sequel, we want to see our pals Espeon and Umbreon make an appearance.

These evolutions of Eevee require love and attention at certain times of the day. So, if Eevee had a more prominent role(say voiced by an Australia Broadway singer who played a famous comic book hero), it’d be cool to see one of its evolutions that tied into the plot.

8 Mudkip

Kids love Memes. That’s just become a fact of life in a world that’s connected online. Everywhere you go, you can’t help but find a meme based on nearly everything. Pokémon is littered with memes, but none are more famous than those revolving around Mudkip. Since the mid-2000s, the “I herd u liek mudkipz” meme has become infamous amongst Pokémon fans. By adding Mudkip, you’d be appealing to both children and adults, something that’s hard to do. Maybe you could have a scene where someone is trying to sell some Pokémon to Tim or Lucy and have the seller say the infamous meme.

7 Vulpix

What does the Pokémon fox say? Vulpix, that’s what. Vulpix is a lovable creature everyone can get behind. It has six-tails and an adorable personality that can’t be matched in the Pokémon world. What would make Vulpix stand out as an addition to the live-action Pokémon world would be the two different versions of the beloved Fox.

You have the standard Vulpix that shoots fire out of its mouth and the Alola one that shoots ice. It’d be interesting to see two different versions of the same Pokémon in a live-action movie.

6 Rockruff and Lycanroc

Dogs are man’s best friends, and that applies to Pokémon. Throughout Detective Pikachu, we saw Growlithe all over Rhyme City, as well as a few Arcanine. Heck, even Snubbel, was a minor character, being Detective Yoshida’s partner for the film. If you want to add more Dog-like Pokémon and sell some plushies, we’d recommend adding Rockruff and Lycanroc to the mix. Rockruff looks the most like a puppy you’d want to adopt, and his evolved from is one of the most Loyal Pokémon around. If Lyconroc were to be featured in Detective Pikachu 2, we would want his Midday and Dusk form, since they’re the most like Wolfs.

5 Scorebunny

In any sequel to an adaptation, you want to try and capitalize on something new happening in the source material to get newer fans on board. With the recent games, Sword and Shield, introducing dozens of new Pokémon, it’d be smart for the team at WB to show some more recent Pokémon. In the latest TV show, newcomer Go has a Scorebunny accompanying him with Ash and Pikachu. Seeing that the show will probably premiere in the US sometime this year, it’s going to have an audience of children watching Pokémon for the first time. Seeing how these kids will see Scorebunny, it would be a smart idea to get one in the next movie.

4 Chansey

Seeing that Pokémon in Rhyme City don’t partake in battling(legally), you won’t find that many Pokemon Centers in it. Still, even if they’re not fighting with one another, Pokémon still need to go to the doctor, like any domesticated animal. So, we’re hoping to see someone like Nurse Joy to appear in the sequel.

If that happens, Chansey has to be there. Chansey has been helping Pokémon that need medical treatment, even in the wild. So, if Pikachu is injured again and Tim and Lucy can’t find Mewtwo to heal him, they’d be smart to see if any Chansey were around to help them out.

3 Magnemite and Magneton

One of the more fascinating aspects of Detective Pikachu was seeing Pokémon partaking in jobs that humans would do. We see Machamp as a cross guard, Growlithe and Arcanine as Police Dogs(a reference to Officer Jenny’s from the show), and so on. It would be interesting to see more Pokémon helping in other fields, such as Electricians. Magnemite and it’s evolved form, Magneton, are usually found near Power Plants. Why not have them working with humans to run the place or even show them as pests that suck the electricity out from local areas?

2 Oshawott

How can you not love Oshawott? Just look at him. He’s just so freaking cute. He’s cuter than just about any Pokémon in the entire world. You just want to pinch his little freckle filled cheeks and hold his tiny little arms. Anyone who doesn’t think he’s cute is a god, damn liar. Oshawott is just too damn adorable to keep out of any adaptation of Pokémon, and we curse the people who decided against not having him in Detective Pikachu. The world loves Sea Otters, and Oshawott is the most friendly version of them all.

1 Meowth

The mascot of Team Rocket was surprisingly absent from Pokémon’s first live-action adventure. Meowth would probably be the easiest Pokémon to adapt of those who weren’t in Detective Pikachu. Except for Team Rocket’s blabbermouth, most Meowth’s are a lot like their real-world inspirations, Cats. They spend most of their days relaxing and sleeping around, much as Snorlax did in the film. They also love shiny objects and catching birds like their Cat counterparts, and they can even walk on two legs. Maybe it’s because they were so similar to Cats that the team didn’t want to put Meowth in the film, but perhaps the sequel could work this iconic Pokémon in. It would be even better to see a Meowth talking, just like Team Rockets.
