There are many different ways to describe the wide varieties of Pokemon. Many fans of the series prefer their teams to be filled with the most majestic creatures they can find, and what better way to identify a majestic Pokemon than by an incredible mane? Even better, thanks to the incredible world of Pokemon, some creatures have stunning manes that don’t even feature actual hair.

While a few Pokemon that include manes in their design may jump to your mind right away, there are almost too many to remember. There may be plenty of majestic Pokemon to choose from, but only a few have truly incredible manes.

10 Arcanine

If you asked most first-generation Pokemon fans what their favorite fire-type Pokemon is, Arcanine is bound to be near the top of their list, if not their number one pick. It’s no surprise that Arcanine is often considered a fan favorite Pokemon.

The Pokemon’s mane gives it a much more ferocious appearance in comparison to its weaker evolution, Growlithe. Its mane blends in with the rest of the clumps of fur that jut from its body, making it both look like it’s ready for a fight, and like it’s ready for a run.

9 Ninetales

While many Pokemon fans seem to prefer Vulpix over Ninetales – due to both how cute a Vulpix is and its multiple appearances by Brock’s side in the anime, Ninetales is the evolution with an incredible mane of fur.

Ninetales has one of the sleekest designs of all the first generation Pokemon. Its fur looks as if it were done by a professional stylist, and its mane gives it almost a regal appearance when paired with its many long and flowing tails. As far as fire-types go, Ninetales may be one of the best.

8 Rapidash

It’s not surprising to see a horse-like Pokemon with a mane, but what makes Rapidash stand out is the fact that its mane is made up entirely of fire. As far as manes go, a giant mane made of fire is probably as cool as it gets.

Rather than a long mane of fur blowing in the wind as it runs, Rapidash’s flames give it a striking appearance. Most people would probably be terrified to see a big flaming horse running toward them, and the fact that it can run upwards of 150MPH makes it even scarier.

7 Tauros

Many Pokemon have spiky manes that could be described as cool, but Tauros goes in the opposite direction. Rather than cool, Tauros has a majestic mane of sleek dark brown fur that drapes across its body.

Even though Tauros’s mane is sleek in appearance, the Pokemon still manages to look as mean as any other. Luckily for anyone that comes across it, the telltale sign that a Tauros is angry is its tails. Some people may want a closer look at the beast’s mane, but if its tails are slapping, it’s best to stay away.

6 Flareon

Just about every Pokemon fan has a favorite Eevee evolution. Some people prefer the newer evolutions like Sylveon, while others prefer the classics. Regardless of which is your favorite, it’s hard to deny that Flareon has a great mane.

Many Pokemon have manes that are designed to make them look sleek and fierce, but instead Flareon’s only adds to the creature’s overall cuteness. Its mane puffs out from its body, giving the small creature a bit more size. It’s not the best Pokemon to cuddle though as its body can get well over 1000 degrees in heat.

5 Raikou

The legendary Pokemon that feature across the franchise typically either appear as monstrous, mysterious, or majestic. The first two generations of Pokemon featured a series of majestic bird and cat-like legendary Pokemon. One of the most fantastic creatures of the second generation was the electric-type legendary cat.

Raikou looks like a kind of lightning-tiger with two huge fangs. The creature’s purple mane almost looks like a kind of cape that’s draped across its body. The purple compliments Raikou’s yellow body in a way that makes the creature stunning to look at.

4 Mightyena

One of the more overlooked Pokemon from the third generation is the dark-type hyena-based creature known as Mightyena. It’s surprising how few people talk about it when it has such an incredible design.

Mightyena may not be used by as many players as some other Pokemon, but it’s one of the meanest-looking Pokemon around. Its long jet-black mane fits perfectly with the dark-type creature’s sinister look. If someone is interested in having a varied but sinister team, adding a Mightyena to their team is a great choice.

3 Luxray

The fourth generation of Pokemon was seriously hurting for some electric-type creatures. Luckily, while fans didn’t get many in that generation, Luxray is one of the most uniquely designed Pokemon from across the series.

The Pokemon progresses from one of the cutest of its generation into one of the fiercest looking for a variety of reasons. While the beast’s mane goes a long way in giving it a unique look it’s striking eyes help it look intimidating. The spiky black mane helps its bolts of electricity stand out even more.

2 Zebstrika

While there is a bit of a war that tends to rage between older fans and newer fans over Zebstrika, that doesn’t detract from how incredible the creature is. Its mane is one of the most unique as well, spiked and stretching across its body.

While some Pokemon have fairly simple manes of fur, Zebstrika breaks that trend with an incredibly unique mane. Zebstrika’s mane is shaped like a long jagged lightning bolt that runs along its body. It runs from what looks like two horns on its head all the way to its tail.

1 Lycanroc

One of the more unique Pokemon of the newer generations is Lycanroc. The Pokemon has a few different forms depending on the time of day, but each form is almost more interesting than the last.

During the day, Lycanroc’s mane is fairly standard when compared to other Pokemon. At midnight, the Pokemon’s mane becomes something entirely different. Its mane spikes over its head adding to its incredibly sinister-looking form. At dusk, the Lycanroc’s standard mane becomes longer and a bit more unruly, making for three incredible manes all across one day.
