2 Generation 1’s Legendary Bird Trio Still Have A Softness To Them
The prestige ranking of Legendary, Pseudo-Legendary, and Mythical Pokémon has slightly lost some meaning with how many new versions of these rare Pokémon get introduced in each new game. There are dozens of Legendaries in the mix at this point, but in Generation 1 there’s a real reverence towards Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, and what the trio of Pokémon represent. These three Pokémon are some of the most powerful creatures out of Kanto besides Mewtwo, but the beauty of these fancy Bird Pokémon shines through with them all. They’re more beacons of hope than harbingers of destruction.

Those that choose Squirtle as their Starter Pokémon in Generation 1 will eventually experience their first companion turn into the tough and utilitarian Blastoise. The behemoth of a Water-Type Pokémon is equipped with powerful water cannons and it’s definitely a big Pokémon that commands attention. Blastoise can cause major destruction with his Water-Type attacks, but the Pokémon’s humanity is not lost. There’s a natural connection with the Pokémon that gets fostered and grows, which isn’t there with some of the stronger creatures that just get caught in the wild.
