10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

Sun & Moon introduced the Pokémon world to many new creatures. Some of these rise above the rest in terms of battling capabilities. When evaluating the strength of Alolan Pokémon, setting parameters can be useful. While Generation VII is partially known for introducing Ultra Beasts, these creatures all have the same base stat total, except for Poipole and Naganadel.

These stats are incredibly high and would therefore make up a large portion of the collection of the most powerful Pokémon in Alola. They are also less accessible. They should, therefore, be excluded from the evaluation along with Legendary and Mythical Pokémon for the same reason. Information like stats, abilities, moves, etc., is available on Serebii.net. These metrics show why certain Pocket Monsters from Alola are so powerful.

10 Decidueye

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

As a starter Pokémon, the Grass/Ghost-type Decidueye has a high base stat total. Its Defense and Speed are unimpressive, but its offensive stats and Special Defense are high. Decidueye is best with its Attack stat, which powers its exceptional Grass and Ghost moves, such as Leaf Blade and Spirit Shackle, the latter of which is its signature move. With its ability Overgrow, Decidueye’s Grass moves increase in power when its health is low. This provides an extra buff to its already capable offensive stats, making Decidueye one of the coolest and powerful Grass-types in Pokémon.

9 Bewear

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

The cute but deadly Bewear is a frightening Pokémon to face. Its superb HP stat makes it difficult to take down, and its fantastic Attack stat allows it to finish off many opponents with one strike. Its remaining stats are relatively unimpressive, but Bewear uses its strengths to devastating ends. Though Normal is not super-effective against any type, Physical Normal-type moves are still powerful when Bewear is using them.

In addition, its secondary Fighting typing is super-effective against several types, and if a Pokémon with one of these types crosses Bewear’s path, the opponent is in trouble. These strengths are what make it one of the best dual-type Normal Pokémon in the franchise.

8 Mudsdale

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

Mudsdale is a Ground-type that plays into its stat spread exceptionally well. Its Special Attack is low, but it does not matter because nearly all of the Pokémon’s available moves are Physical, which is where it shines. Powerful Physical Ground-type moves like High Horsepower and Earthquake help make it as viable as it is. Although Ground can be limited in its defensive scope, only resisting two types and being immune to one more, Mudsdale’s above-average Special Defense and high Defense can keep it in the battle for a decent amount of time.

7 Dhelmise

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

Dhelmise is a fascinating Pokémon. It is a Ghost/Grass-type, but it has the unique ability Steelworker. This boosts its Steel-type attacks despite it not being a Steel-type Pokémon. This effectively gives it a Same Type Attack Bonus to three types: Ghost, Grass, and Steel.

Dhelmise even has a Steel-type signature move, Anchor Shot. Even without this buff, Dhelmise still has a massive Attack stat and access to some excellent Physical attacks. It is terribly slow but has solid defensive capabilities to protect it.

6 Incineroar

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

Although it may look as though it belongs in a different type, Incineroar is an exceptional Fire/Dark-type. With high defensive stats and a high Attack stat, Incineroar can both take hits and deal them out effectively. It does not need to compromise in one direction or the other.

While it often strikes last as a result of its low Speed stat, Incineroar stands confidently nonetheless. Similar to Decidueye, Incineroar’s ability Blaze powers up Fire moves when its health is low. Most of its best moves are Physical, so it can often sweep through opposing teams.

5 Kommo-o

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

The Dragon/Fighting-type Kommo-o is the first and currently only pseudo-Legendary with Fighting as one of its types. This Pokémon has a fairly consistent stat spread, except for Speed and HP being slightly lower. Its secondary Fighting typing gives more offensive capabilities to fight against the Ice-type, one of Dragon’s few weaknesses.

However, this also makes it extremely vulnerable to Fairy. In most matchups, though, Kommo-o can be difficult to defeat because its stats are varied enough to absorb much damage and evade offensive moves. In addition, its powerful attacks, aided by its high stats, can prove deadly against many foes.

4 Primarina

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

As with its fellow Generation VII starters, Primarina has an ability that powers up the moves of its primary type, Water, when its HP is low. This ability, called Torrent, makes the Pokémon’s Water moves, many of which are already powered by its very high Special Attack stat, chillingly strong. With a secondary typing of Fairy, Primarina benefits greatly from its Special Attack stat.

On the other hand, while it has a high Special Defense stat, it has unfortunate Defense. Primarina often moves slower than opponents, so this can present an issue. In matchups against Special attackers, though, this Pokémon is stellar.

3 Golisopod

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

Golisopod is a patient creature. It rarely attacks first, but it can take a hit with relative ease. Its defensive stats are quite high. This is especially true of its Physical Defense. This Pokémon’s excellent dual-typing of Bug/Water further aids it. This type combination leaves Golisopod only weak to Electric, Flying, and Rock, and it gives it more offensive capabilities in the process. The Same Type Attack Bonus paired with its high Attack stat makes Golisopod a dangerous foe to face, especially if a Pokémon does not have high Defense.

2 Wishiwashi

10 Strongest Pokémon From Sun & Moon

In its Solo Form, Wishiwashi is one of the cutest fish Pokémon in the series. It is adorable but has a pathetic base stat total. When in its School Form, though, Wishiwashi proves that there is strength in numbers. The only requirements for this form are that the Pokémon is over Level 20 and has at least a quarter of its maximum health. This is not incredibly difficult to achieve, and this new form is a monster of an opponent. Its Speed and HP remain abysmal, but the rest of its stats skyrocket. This can keep Wishiwashi’s HP above a quarter of its maximum for a significant amount of time.

1 Tsareena

With pure Grass typing, Tsareena does not have any extreme vulnerabilities, but it also has a Same Type Attack Bonus with only one type. This trade-off seems to benefit the Pokémon more than hurt it. Tsareena’s very high Attack stat lets it use moves of a variety of types effectively. The lack of extreme vulnerabilities assists its already high defensive stats, allowing it to withstand damage even longer. It can be a devastating foe if it is not quickly dispatched, but knocking this Pokémon out is a difficult task to achieve.
