10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

The Pokémon franchise features a multitude of moves that Pocket Monsters can learn. Divided into Physical, Special, and Status categories, some actions perform better than others. Many of these are available to a large number of Pokémon. There are certain moves, however, that are usually accessible only to a specific Pokémon or evolutionary line. Actions of this kind are known as signature moves. These are often among the strongest in the series, and their presence can give a Pocket Monster a significant advantage.

While some actions were initially signature moves, they have become more accessible as the series has gone on. Others, though, remain essentially exclusive. With help from a Pokémon’s signature move, trainers can succeed in many NPC battles in the main series games. (Note: This doesn’t include Z-Moves or G-Max Moves as these vary in strength depending on the power of the move associated with it.)

Double Iron Bash

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

The signature move of Melmetal, Double Iron Bash, has a base power of 60 and an accuracy of 100%. However, it hits the target twice. An added bonus is that with each hit, the move has a 30% chance to make the target flinch.

The downside is that Melmetal must act before its opponent to have a chance to make it flinch, which is unlikely due to Melmetal’s unimpressive Speed stat. Double Iron Bash is nevertheless a fantastic attack and is one of the most powerful Pokémon moves that have additional effects.

Eternabeam

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

One of Eternatus’s signature moves, Eternabeam, deals massive damage at the expense of needing to recharge on the following turn. The base accuracy for this attack is 90%, which is not perfect but allows the strike to connect most of the time. With a base power of 160, Eternabeam can devastate opponents.

While not directly related to its strength, the move is also fascinating because, during its attack animation, Eternatus enters its Eternamax form, which is usually only viewable during the story battle against it in Sword and Shield.

Prismatic Laser

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

Necrozma is a part of one of the best Pokémon Legendary trios, and one of its signature moves, Prismatic Laser, is one of the reasons for its strength. It must recharge after the turn it is used, but it can do terrifying damage.

It has a base power of 160, and with a base accuracy of 100%, it can consistently present a threat to enemy teams. The turn of rest after its use can make the attack less desirable, but the immense amount of damage it does can defeat even some of the tougher opponents in one strike.

Techno Blast/Multi-Attack

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

Despite their introductions generations apart, Genesect and Silvally have similar signature moves. Genesect’s Techno Blast changes its typing depending on the Drive it holds, and Silvally’s Multi-Attack changes its typing based on the Memory it holds. Both attacks have Normal typing if the Pokémon are not holding an item.

While they initially had different base power values, this changed over time, and they currently have the same base power of 120 and an accuracy of 100%. The difference is that Techno Blast can be one of five typings, while Multi-Attack can be one of all eighteen. Also, Silvally gains a Same Type Attack Bonus from Multi-Attack because the Pokémon’s typing also changes with the Memory, but Genesect does not gain the same boost with Techno Blast.

Astral Barrage

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

In its Shadow Rider form, Calyrex gains a stellar signature move in Astral Barrage. The attack has a base power of 120 and consistently hits its targets with a base accuracy of 100%.

Additionally, Astral Barrage hits all adjacent enemies, meaning that if the trainer is in a double or triple battle, the incredible strength of the attack can be used against multiple opposing targets. Even if it is only used during a one-on-one battle, Astral Barrage is a terrifying force that makes Shadow Rider Calyrex even more intimidating.

Oblivion Wing

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

Oblivion Wing is an attack that is the signature move of Yveltal, one of the strongest among the Kalos Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Its base power of 80 may seem measly compared to the strength of some other signature moves, but it is better than it may appear.

The move heals the user for 75% of the damage done by the attack, allowing Yveltal to replenish its health as the battle continues. Additionally, its base accuracy of 100% lets the Pokémon do so consistently, keeping it from fainting and still doing a decent chunk of damage.

Glacial Lance

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

Like Shadow Rider Calyrex, Ice Rider Calyrex also gains an amazing signature move in the form of Glacial Lance. Like Astral Barrage, Glacial Lance can hit all adjacent enemies, but unlike Astral Barrage, Glacial Lance has a slightly higher base power of 130.

Its accuracy of 100% usually guarantees a hit, and the immense strength of the attack can devastate the opponent. Ice Rider Calyrex has a fantastic Attack stat, so one blow with Glacial Lance can be destructive.

Psycho Boost

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

Psycho Boost is the signature move of Deoxys and can be used in all four of its forms. The attack has a base power of 140 and an accuracy of 90%. The downside is that Psycho Boost significantly lowers the user’s Special Attack, which is the offensive stat Psycho Boost utilizes.

While this means that the attack is not as effective on multiple successive hits, trainers can switch out Deoxys and then switch it back in, resetting the stat changes that occurred. Though this adds more turns to a battle, it is worth the strength of the attack.

Meteor Assault

10 Strongest Signature Moves In Pokémon

Perhaps the most powerful Fighting move in Pokémon, Meteor Assault is also one of the best signature moves. Used by Sirfetch’d, the attack has a base power of 150 and a base accuracy of 100%. The move must then recharge on the following turn, but one strike can eliminate a large number of the opponents the Pokémon may face.

Combined with the fact that Sirfetch’d has a very high Attack stat, Meteor Assault does an exceptional amount of damage that can be difficult to defend against.

Blue Flare/Bolt Strike

Blue Flare, a signature move of Reshiram, and Bolt Strike, a signature move of Zekrom, function very similarly with only a slight variation. Both have a base power of 130 and a base accuracy of 85%. The variation comes from the additional effect.

Blue Flare has a 20% chance to burn the target, while Bolt Strike has a 20% chance to paralyze the opponent. Both are exceptional options for their respective Pokémon, and while their imperfect accuracy can be concerning, the moves normally connect and are worth the risk.
