25 The Mystery Of Mount Chilliad – GTA V

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

The Mystery of Mount Chilliad is perhaps one of the biggest mysteries in any Grand Theft Auto game so far. It refers to a series of mysterious markings which can be found on the largest mountain in San Andreas.

If you enter the cable car station at the summit of Mt. Chiliad, you come across a large map painted on the wall which appears to be a map of the mountain, with various odd symbols scattered all around. It is speculated that these point to the locations of secret objects which could be hidden on the mountain. A strange symbol is also seen above the peak which resembles the All-seeing Eye, a possible reference to the Illuminati. Finally, there is a drawing etched behind the viewing platform which reads, “Come back when your story is finished”. Returning to the mountain after completing the game 100% will unlock an easter egg, allowing a UFO to appear above Mount Chiliad.

24 The Mass Grave Of Bone County – GTA: San Andreas

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Possessed cars aren’t the only crazy thing happening around in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. It seems as if there is a serial killer on the loose who is responsible for the murder of six people. The proof for this? Well, that would be the Mass Grave which can be found in Bone County.

The exact location of this pit is at the foot of a mesa in El Castillo del Diablo, Bone County, to the south of Verdant Meadows Airfield and to the north of the Restricted Area. The pit contains six body bags, a Bobcat truck parked next to it and a shovel. Different speculations range as to who actually created this graveyard but most of these point to Mary-Beth Maybell who broadcasts a radio show from Bone County and claims to have six husbands. Other theories suggest that it is a reference by Rockstar to real-life mafias from Las Vegas that are known to dump bodies in the desert.

23 Mystery Of The Infinity Murders – GTA V

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

It can be a lot of fun to cause all sorts of chaos and mayhem throughout the city in GTA V but what if you want to try out something different? There is nothing better than solving a good old murder mystery. According to legend, Merle Abrahams who is better known as the Infinity Killer was responsible for killing eight male joggers back in the late 90s. Unfortunately, these bodies were never discovered by the police but you as a player can solve the mystery of the Infinity Murders.

Throughout San Andreas, you will come across clues in different places that will eventually lead to a location off the coast of Paleto Bay in the northern part of the State. You will require some scuba gear at this point which will allow you to reach the floor of the ocean and discover eight bodies wrapped in plastic. Congratulations, you just solved the mystery of the Infinity Murders.

22 CJ’s Career As A TV Star – GTA IV

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

If you successfully beat GTA San Andreas, you know about the ending that involved our protagonist Carl Johnson, famously known as CJ. We won’t spoil it here for you but what has he been really up to since then? The answer to that was hidden by Rockstar in a small secret in GTA IV.

When you finally get a safe house, you can actually watch some TV. For this secret, go to the TV and press the intended button to switch it on. Next, keep flipping through the channels until you come across one where the show “I’m Rich” is on. The show has different episodes, so you will need to watch through a few of them before you catch this. During one of these, the narrator will say “Your life will be as exciting as a soda commercial.” As he says this, you will briefly get to see CJ free falling in a multicolored suit above San Andreas and then pulling open his parachute.

21 A Briefcase Full Of Cash – GTA V

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

There are many ways of earning money throughout GTA V. The game has an actual working stock market where you can buy company shares and later sell them to make tons of cash. All of this can take a while though and you need to know exactly which company to invest in to make some serious money. So, what do you do if you are in need of some quick cash?

Luckily, there a number of hidden packages throughout the game that contain cash. One of these is a briefcase containing $25,000, but it’s not very easy to find. To access it, you need to head out to the northern most part of Del Perro Beach, grab a boat or jet ski and head out almost one hundred feet onto the sea. Once you’re at the location, dive in, and you should be able to come across a sunken submarine. Look around, and you will see a briefcase lying near the hatch. Pick it up, and you now have $25,000.

20 The Moon Landing Was A Hoax – GTA: Vice City

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

If you’ve been on the internet for a while, there are two conspiracy theories that you have definitely come across at some point. One of them claims that the Earth is flat while the other one seems to claim that the 1969 Moon Landing was nothing but a big hoax.

Many of these conspiracy theorists claim that the entire thing was shot in a movie studio and that Neil Armstrong never set foot on the moon. Now, we’re not here to prove or disapprove any conspiracy theories but Rockstar decided to address this in a manner which they know best i.e. via an easter egg. To find this one, you need to head out to the InterGlobal Studios located on Prawn Island. Once there, you need to check out each of the studios until you come across the one with a Moon Lander and the American Flag. This is your easter egg to confirm the fact that the Moon landings were indeed fake, in the Grand Theft Auto universe at least.

19 The Hatch In The Sea – GTA V

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

There is a lot of stuff to do on land in GTA V but Rockstar went ahead and put extra effort into creating a fully explorable ocean with lost treasures and sunken ships. One of these mysteries is a hatch which can be found at the bottom of the ocean in the far east of the map, near the coast of San Chianski Mountain Range.

For those who are familiar with the 2004 TV series Lost by J.J. Abrams will recognize this immediately, as the hatch was a very important plot element during the first five seasons of the series. The one in GTA V is located at a depth where it cannot be reached in a normal game but you can still get close enough to hear a strange tapping noise and see the light inside the hatch turn on and off. Someone eventually figured out that it was Morse code and deciphered it which said, “Hey, you never call, how do you fancy go bowling?” This is clearly a nod to Roman Bellic, cousin of GTA 4’s protagonist Niko Bellic’s who would call you multiple times asking you to go bowling.

18 An Homage To Scarface – GTA: Vice City

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Most of the secrets found in GTA games are often references to pop culture so it should come as no surprise that one of the biggest secrets hidden away in this game is an homage to the 1983 Al Pacino classic, Scarface.

This apartment, also known as Apartment 3C can be found without much difficulty by following certain markers. To access it, go to the underground shopping mall that is situated between Collar & Cuffs and Pole Position. Walk through this mall, and you will come across a building which is located opposite to you. On the south side of this building, there are two sets of stairs which lead to a doorway that you can enter. Inside you will find a case half-filled with cocaine and a chainsaw plus some blood splatter on the walls inside the bathroom. This is a reference to the scene in Scarface when a drug deal inside an apartment goes wrong and Tony Montana’s friend is killed in a bathtub with a chainsaw.

17 Boost Stats And Cash From The Start – GTA: San Andreas

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

While it is true that you can use cheats to get a lot of things done in GTA San Andreas, but that’s not a lot of fun now, is it? Instead, there is a way of making loads of cash and boosting your stats at the start of the game without having to use any cheats at all.

Mount the bike and pedal your way to the gym located by the beach. While you’re riding, if you do wheelies you’ll be able to earn a bit more money for your cause (not to mention increase your cycling skills). Next, equip yourself with the armor and a silenced pistol along the way. When you reach the gym, start a workout to increase muscle. Once that is taken care of, head back to Glen Park and look for drug dealers which you can shoot with the silent pistol. Once you have about $10,000, go ahead and buy the property in Jefferson to save your game. Keep trying the drug dealer method until you have enough money to bet on a horse with 12/1 odds Inside Track Betting near the Southern End of Mulholland Intersection. Win the race and you’ll have to go back to Jefferson and save, but if you end up losing, you can always reload a previous save. We were able to generate more than one hundred million dollars using this which can last an entire game.

16 Finding A Cursed Ghost Car – GTA: San Andreas

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Along with some of the craziest stuff, San Andreas is also home to things that are spooky and very difficult to explain. One of these is the existence of a ghost car which can actually be found and used by the player.

To find it, look closely at the bottom part of the map, and you should be able to see two shapes resembling a horseshoe. If you still have trouble finding these, they are located on the countryside part of the map between Los Santos and San Fierro, to the east of Mt. Chilliad. Once you get there, walk to the edge of the shapes (on the map) and you should come across a ditch with quite a few old cars laying around. Enter the one on top of the hill and drive away. Once you walk back again to the spot, that’s when all the spooky stuff will start happening. It will start raining and an old wrecked car will come slowly out of the trees without anyone behind the wheel. The crazy part is that you also cannot repair this car at a Pay’n’Spray.

15 Discovery Of The Bigfoot – GTA V

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

When GTA San Andreas was first released, the biggest rumor surrounding it was the existence of Big Foot in Back O’ Beyond. No definitive proof was ever found, however, and Rockstar later confirmed that Bigfoot didn’t exist in the game. But since it had become such a popular myth in the GTA franchise, Rockstar decided to introduce Bigfoot in GTA V.

The first glimpse of this mystical creature is in the Predator mission where the main objective is to hunt down the O’Neil brothers in the woods with a rifle equipped with a thermal scope. If you look in the bottom right corner, you will see the thermal signature of Bigfoot standing still. It will immediately disappear once spotted and shooting it will also do nothing. In a later mission, the player can meet up with a hunter as Franklin and hunt down the Bigfoot. Upon shooting it, the creature will utter the phrases “shoot me human” and “I’m the last of my kind”. This a nod to the Sasquatch mission in Red Dead Redemption.

14 The Ghost Of Mount Gordo – GTA V

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Mount Gordo is quite possibly one of the most haunted places in Grand Theft Auto 5. It is one of the only three mountains in the game, with it also being the smallest. Similar to Mt. Chilliad, Mt. Gordo is also home to a lot of secrets. One of the biggest is the ghost of Jolene Cranley-Evans.

The story goes that in 1978, Jolene Cranley and her husband Jock Cranley were walking by the cliffs when an argument broke out between the two. Jock wanted to leave the county and become a stuntman while Jolene wanted to stay behind and look after her parents while running their thriving guesthouse. Jock pushed her off of a cliff on Mt. Goro, resulting in her death from all the injuries. Jock was considered innocent by the police and released without any charges. Jolene’s ghost now appears on the top of Mt. Gordo every night between 23:00 and 00:00. It disappears as the player approaches it, leaving behind the name “Jock” written with blood.

13 Earning Easy Money In Vice City – GTA: Vice City

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Money has always played a very important role throughout all the Grand Theft Auto games. You can use it to buy property, cars and do so many other things. This also means that there are many ways through which you can earn money throughout the game but what if you’re looking to get your hands on some fast cash? Well, there is a fairly easy way of doing this in Vice City.

To make this work, you will need to purchase Sunshine Autos which allows you to participate in races that are listed next to the garage. One of these requires you to race 6.1 miles and costs $10,000 to enter. We suggest saving the game at the auto dealers before you get to your race destination. Once you arrive, do not get into position for the race but instead take out a rocket launcher and fire rockets at the other racers. Once all the vehicles are destroyed, you can continue the race at your own pace and finish 1st every time. The payout for winning this race will be $40,000 and if you do the math, you will always end up with $30,000 in profit. Keep at this and you will be rich in no time.

12 Discovering The Church Of Scientology – GTA IV

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Similar to countless other real word references in Grand Theft Auto games, The Church of Scientology also makes an appearance in GTA IV. The Church of Scientology, for those who are unaware, promotes Scientology which is a set of beliefs introduced by L. Ron Hubbard, basically claiming that humans are immortal spiritual beings who have lost their true nature.

In order to find this, you need to have access to the church located in Leftwood, around Alderney. One of the rear-stained windows in this church has a vague image which if you look closely, is actually a volcano and a subtle reference to Hubbard’s creation before Scientology which was called Dianetics. If you then move to the front of the church, you will encounter a man ranting saying, “Biology doesn’t exist!” and “You’re nothing but a probability wave, IN SPACE!” It basically proves that this church is a church of Scientology.

11 Entering The Airport Without A Pilot’s License – GTA: San Andreas

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

One of the coolest things that everyone wants to do when they start out in a GTA game is to get their hands on a flying vehicle and practice some flying. The problem in San Andreas, however, is that you cannot enter the airport unless you have a pilot’s license which can take a while to get.

This still doesn’t mean that it is impossible to achieve and it can be done with the use of a little trick. It requires you to drive up to the locked gates in a car, stopping it at a distance of almost 10ft. You then need to exit your vehicle and walk back and forth between the vehicle and the gates multiple times. Eventually, you should hear the gates opening, allowing you to enter the airport freely. While most of the aircraft are usually locked, you can still stumble upon some unlocked ones if you keep looking.

10 Making The Moon Grow – GTA: San Andreas

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

We’re not sure about how this one came into being, whether it was a glitch that was never fixed or an easter egg placed by Rockstar on purpose. Regardless, it can be quite easy to miss since paying attention to the in-game Moon is the last thing on the mind of anyone playing a Grand Theft Auto game.

To make this work, you need to equip a sniper rifle at night when the moon is out. Next, all you need to do is aim at the moon and shoot. This will change the size of the moon, making it grow or shrink depending on the order in which you shoot at this. Normally this is “Normal size-Bigger-Bigger-Smaller-Bigger-Normal size.” Unfortunately, this little easter egg was removed from the HD universe starting Grand Theft Auto IV. In GTA V the moon is much more detailed and realistic, and it even cycles through phases.

9 Finding The Super-Secret Sultan RS – GTA IV

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

In each of the Grand Theft Auto games, there is usually a car which is super rare and near impossible to find. For GTA IV, it is the Sultan RS. Now, this shouldn’t be confused with the normal Sultan R which is pretty easy to find.

To access it, you need to go to the old abandoned mansion which is located in Westdyke. This is the place where you deliver a truck full of drugs for Phil bell in the mission “Truck Hustle.” Next, you need to look behind the garage which is where all the cars were stored for the mission “To Live and Die in Alderney,” also for Phil Bell. Look around and you should see a car hidden amongst some of the bushes. Get inside it and it should say “Sultan RS.” Congratulations, you just found yourself one of the rarest cars in the entire game.

8 Face On The Side Of Mount Chilliad– GTA V

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Mount Chiliad is home to some of the biggest secrets in Grand Theft Auto V. Whether it is aliens or a large map of the mountain painted on the wall, there is a lot to keep gamers curious for a long time. While a lot of these had gained hype because of videos on YouTube, there is another secret which a lot of people don’t know.

If you manage to take a helicopter high up near the summit of the mountain, you will eventually come across a hidden rock formation which clearly resembles a face. There is no confirmed answer as to whose face it actually is but a lot of people speculate it to be of Aaron Paul’s, the guy who played Jessie Pinkman on the famous show Breaking Bad. We can kind of see the resemblance here but some people also believe it to be the face of one of the developers who worked on the game.

7 Beating Heart Of Liberty City – GTA IV

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Did you know that you could visit and see the heart of Liberty City? No, this is not a figure of speech, the city that we have all come to know and love in GTA IV has an actual beating heart which will even bleed if you shoot it.

To gain access to it, you need to fly a helicopter straight to where the statue of happiness is. Here you will need to jump out of the chopper so that you land on the highest area with doors. There are 4 doors in total here but one of them will have bloodstains on the floor in front of it and two signs on either side saying, “No Hidden Content Through Here.” This should be a dead giveaway that there is something around. While the door may look solid, it actually isn’t and you can pass through it. Once you’re inside, you will find a ladder that you can climb and at the top will be the beating heart of Liberty City.

6 Rule The Sea As A Pirate – GTA: Vice City

25 Insane Grand Theft Auto Secrets You (Probably) Didnt Know

Did you know that there is a small secret in GTA Vice City which allows you to become a pirate for a short while? It’s okay if you didn’t because we’ll guide you on how to get it done. You need to have a bit of luck and really quick reflexes in order to make this properly work.

There are two methods of going about this, but we’ll mention the easier one here. This requires you to get inside a fast boat, most probably the speeder and mark a much larger boat like the Rio or the Tropic. Next, try to knock the bigger boat with your speeder, causing it to go and bump into a corner. Now, this is where the tricky part comes in, you need to get out of your boat and jump onto the bigger one. If everything goes correctly, the guy at the wheel of the bigger boat will shout “Aaar!” like a pirate and either jump in the water or punch you off his boat.
