A fan-made Pokémon Trading Card Game Gengar sculpture shows the Shadow Pokémon emerging from its card art like a mist-cloaked nightmare come to life. The spooky Ghost/Poison-type Pokémon has been a part of Nintendo’s long-running monster-collection franchise from the very beginning, having first appeared among the original 151 Pokémon from Pokémon Red and Blue back in 1998. There, Gengar served as the third evolutionary step in a trio of mischievous Pokémon (evolving from Gastly and Haunter) that haunt the creepy Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town.

Gengar has since remained an extremely popular creature in the Pokémon franchise, making return appearances in spin-off games like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Unite, and it even got a pair of Mega Evolution forms in Pokémon X And Y. Gengar has also been made into a strange Pokémon plush toy bearing its trademark long tongue and creepy smile, and fans have paid homage to the grinning specter with digital art, sculptures, and even incredible 3D Gengar latte art.

Reddit user joshi97 has shared a brief video clip of their homemade Gengar card art clay sculpture to the Pokémon subreddit. This spooky statue depicts Gengar as it emerges from its own Pokémon card art, surrounded by a cloud of swirling purple smoke as it pulls itself out into the real world. Fittingly, the video is set to a remix of Lavender Town’s unsettling music from Pokémon Red and Blue.

Commenters compared joshi97’s Gengar sculpture to the works of YouTube artist North Of The Border, who is known for his clay figures of Pokémon like Mewtwo and Charizard blasting their way out of their own Pokémon cards similar to this 3D Gengar art. In fact, joshi97 notes that they were inspired by North Of The Border’s work, which also includes an impressive replica of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2’s Bokoblin Talus and a makeshift lamp modeled after Minecraft’s exploding Creeper. He isn’t the only person making incredible Pokémon sculptures either, as one Reddit user recently showed off a trio of impressive 3D-printed Pokémon figures of Charizard, Tyranitar, and Nidoking reimagined as Godzilla-style Kaiju monsters.

Joshi97’s custom clay Gengar sculpture is appropriately creepy, showing the spectral Pokémon escaping from its Pokémon card like something out of a horror film. The Halloween season may be over, but it looks like Gengar isn’t ready to stop scaring people just yet – and it might just start with the unlucky collector who pulled its haunted card out of a Pokémon booster pack.
