Pokemon Legends: Arceus features a long list of firsts for the famed Nintendo series. In the Hisui region, the Sinnoh of long, long ago, Pokemon battles take place in real space, trainers craft necessary items in the field, and completing the Pokedex is an integral factor in the plot. It’s an incredible game that has captured the hearts of players by providing a sprawling, exploration-based Pokemon adventure.

While Legends: Arceus is designed in such a way that players will ultimately discover most of the map’s secrets simply by completing the game’s objectives, every open-world experience runs the natural risk of having certain things missed. Here are some of what we believe to be the easiest areas to miss in the game and how exactly to find them.

Heads up, there are minor story spoilers ahead.

5 The Galaxy Hall Balcony (Jubilife Village)

Jubilife Village functions as the central hub for Legends: Arceus. Whether a player wants to restock their inventory, take professional pictures with their favorite Pokemon, or dive into a slew of side quests, Jubilife Village is the place to be. It’s also home to Galaxy Hall, a hotspot for important NPC characters and story beats all packed inside a three-story building that “hides” an entrance to a rather useful balcony.

On the third floor, which serves as Commander Kamado’s private office, there is a set of doors. They’re easy to miss because they’re just out of view during most of the cutscenes that take place within. It’s not critical to find the aforementioned balcony, however, utilizing it does make catching one of the 28 unique Unown infinitely easier.

4 The Shortcut Beneath Veilstone Cape (Cobalt Coastlands)

The Cobalt Coastlands are mostly sandy beaches, grassy plains, and open seas, so it’s not surprising that they’re broadly easier to explore than other locations in Legends: Arceus. On the northern end of the coast, there is a jut of land called the Veilstone Cape that essentially walls off the top third of the explorable space. According to the map, you can either go around it the long way or climb over it… also the long way.

However, there’s an unmarked tunnel that lets players ride their Basculegion directly under the mass of rock and save a precious handful of moments. The southern entrance is near the end of Castaway Shore, and the northern entrance is in the Seagrass Haven. Aside from effectively removing Lunker’s Lair from the equation, the tunnel also features one of the few cave murals that depicts the legendary Pokemon of Hisui.

3 The Man Beneath The Clamberclaw Cliffs (Coronet Highlands)

The Coronet Highlands balance vertical exploration with the largest cavern system in the Hisui region. It’s easy for players to get caught up in caution around here, as Legends: Arceus features fall damage — something we discovered the painful way. Nevertheless, there are a few nooks that completely avoid these particular pitfalls.

Should the player choose to entirely ignore the looming mountain, there’s a river beside the Heavenward Lookout that feeds into an unnamed lake in the northeast corner of the map. On the left-hand side of the lake, there’s a small outcrop of land at the base of the Clamberclaw Cliffs where a lone wanderer can be found. He commends you for their unorthodox exploration methods and bestows a crafting recipe as a reward.

2 The Secret Hollow In Plain Sight (Alabaster Icelands)

The Alabaster Icelands are a ring of sheer mountains surrounding a frozen wasteland. Other notable landmarks include the Snowpoint Temple, a beautiful frozen waterfall, and fragments of a horrifyingly massive Avalugg corpse. At the base of a cliff beneath Lake Acuity, there is a small cave known as the Secret Hollow. It’s clearly visible from a great distance because of the obviously breakable rock that blocks the entrance.

This is not the first instance of such a rock in Legends: Arceus, but it is the only one that wholly cannot be circumvented with the use of a Ride Pokemon. Now, these rocks can be shattered by using the same mechanic by which players collect Apricorns or start a battle (i.e. throwing a Pokemon at it and letting them do the work), but at no point does the game explain this. Perhaps Nintendo thought this was obvious, but more than a few members of the Galaxy Survey Corps would like to disagree.

1 The Solaceon Ruins. No, Seriously (Crimson Mirelands)

The Crimson Mirelands are pockmarked with muddy bogs, crumbling ruins, and unfortunate naming conventions, but they come together to create one of the most interesting maps in the game. Just northeast of the Golden Lowlands, you will find the Solaceon Ruins. These ruins are required exploration for the main plot, so everyone who’s pushing onward with the story will know the area well enough to be justifiably confused as to why such a simple, singular, empty room would be listed as a “hidden area.”

Here’s why. The Solaceon Ruins are intrinsically tied to the Unown, a species of Pokemon that resemble letters of the English alphabet. Once the Unown hide and seek collectathon is triggered, players can find the 28 (26 letters and two punctuation marks) Unown hiding all over the Hisui region. What might not be common knowledge is that once the Unown are found and caught, wild Unown begin to appear in the Solaceon Ruins.

When the location is full, it looks like a little Pokemon playground, which is incredibly sweet — until the player busts in, Pokeballs a-blazing.
