The Pokémon franchise boasts a whole range of Legendary Pokémon. This includes the literal creator of all Pokémon itself, Arceus, to other Pokémon that can affect space and time like Palika and Dialga. Many of these Legendary Pokémon are elusive and difficult to catch. Jirachi, for instance, wakes up only once every thousand years for a week.

However, there are some Legendary Pokémon that fans wish existed. And, of course, there are some Pokémon that fans are grateful for not existing in real life. All of them are undoubtedly powerful and could change a lot about the world we live in.

10 We Wish Existed: Mew, The Tiny Saviour

Mew tends to be a benevolent figure in both the main anime and the films. Despite its small size, it used its amazing powers trying to stop Mewtwo’s plans to take revenge on humanity in the first movie. Mew also assists the protagonists with freeing Pokémon that Team Rocket attempted capturing. It was so good that even the Mirage version of Mew helped Ash and his friends sabotage the antagonist’s plans in the special Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon.

Mew is also noted to only appear in front of those that are pure of heart. Considering its benevolent nature, it makes sense that Mew would only appear in front of equally benevolent people. Even if the chances of seeing Mew are rare, fans would love for this Pokémon to exist in reality.

9 We’re Glad Doesn’t Exist: Mewtwo, The Human Hater

5 Legendary Pokémon We Wish Existed (& 5 Were Glad That Dont)

Considering Mewtwo’s initial hatred for, and attempted destruction of, humanity itself, fans are glad that Mewtwo does not actually exist. Mewtwo’s psychic power easily rivals Mew, as shown in the film Pokémon: The First Movie as well as its CGI remake. Even though Mewtwo calls off this plan by the end of the movie, it’s clear that Mewtwo is still fairly hostile towards humans and would prefer to live in secret. By the epilogue of the movie Mewtwo Returns, Mewtwo would rather wander at night to avoid being seen by other people.

8 We Wish Existed: Ho-Oh, The Bird of Eternal Happiness

As the guardian of the skies, Ho-Oh’s presence would be well-appreciated by fans in real life. This Pokémon has the mythical ability to bring back the dead, and the rare few that witness these Legendary Pokémon are promised eternal happiness. Like Mew, Ho-Oh is a rare sight to see. However, fans agree that the possibility of eternal happiness would bring a smile to children and adults alike in reality.

As a bonus, when it flies, it creates huge, fantastic rainbows in the sky. This glorious sight, in addition to its powers, makes Ho-Oh the perfect Pokémon to see in real life.

7 We’re Glad Doesn’t Exist: Giratina, The Pokémon Devil

5 Legendary Pokémon We Wish Existed (& 5 Were Glad That Dont)

Giratina is one of the creepiest Pokémon to add in one’s Pokédex in the anime and the games, even with its Legendary status. Giratina can travel through dimensions other than time and space itself. It’s noted to be highly aggressive and territorial as well. Additionally, Giratina was apparently banished to its own alternate dimension long ago. Its scary powers rival Dialga and Palkia’s, as shown in the movie Giratina And The Sky Warrior.

Its draconic appearance would also frighten and give nightmares to many children. Considering its scary appearance and abilities, Giratina is a Pokémon that fans are glad doesn’t exist.

6 We Wish Existed: Cresselia, The Dreamweaver

5 Legendary Pokémon We Wish Existed (& 5 Were Glad That Dont)

Cresselia is one of the most benevolent Legendary Pokémon to ever exist next to Mew. This is due to its ability to dispel nightmares. Holding one of Cresselia’s feathers gives the user sweet dreams, guaranteeing no nightmares in their sleep. Additionally, Cresselia releases the most beautiful and soothing aurora as it flies at night during the quarter-moon.

Cresselia’s ability to get rid of nightmares, its ethereal beauty and additional greatness at recovery and healing techniques make it the perfect Legendary Pokémon to exist in real life, especially if nightmare-inducing Pokémon such as Darkrai or Giratina also existed.

5 We’re Glad Doesn’t Exist: Groudon, The Ground-shaker

5 Legendary Pokémon We Wish Existed (& 5 Were Glad That Dont)

Groudon’s dinosaur-like appearance might be too much to handle. Additionally, this Legendary Pokémon is known to summon intense droughts and cause volcanic eruptions. Additionally, if it meets Kyogre, they will engage in a devastatingly destructive battle with their powerful moves. When it’s not summoning droughts, erupting volcanoes, or battling Kyogre, Groudon sleeps underground, surrounded by nothing but magma. This Legendary Pokémon may be powerful in battles, but it’s not a Pokémon that fans want to meet in real life. Groudon’s destructive tendencies make it far too dangerous to encounter in reality, forget its appearance.

4 We Wish Existed: Regigigas, The Continent-shifter

5 Legendary Pokémon We Wish Existed (& 5 Were Glad That Dont)

Regigigas’ mastery over the other Regi Pokémon, even if it already belongs to a trainer, can be a helpful boon in trying to stay safe from said other Regi Pokémon. Despite its golem-like appearance and being powerful enough to move continents, Regigigas is as deft as a skilled craftsman.

Regigigas can survive extreme conditions of boiling magma and freezing ice, and it can create golems out of inanimate objects and electrical energies to bring to life. Regigigas’ usefulness makes fans wish it existed in real life.

3 We’re Glad Doesn’t Exist: Zapdos, The Thunder Bird

5 Legendary Pokémon We Wish Existed (& 5 Were Glad That Dont)

Whenever Zapdos flaps its glittering wings, it releases electricity and causes thunderstorms. It is rarely seen, but reportedly appears only during thunderstorms and grows stronger with the more electricity it absorbs. Its electrical attacks, combined with its mastery of flying the stormy skies, show that Zapdos is a Pokémon that one should not face in real life. The potential to cause thunderstorms would wreak havoc on anyone trying to spend the day outdoors, whether they are journeying between towns or just trying to have a nice picnic outside.

2 We Wish Existed: Xerneas, The Life-giver

5 Legendary Pokémon We Wish Existed (& 5 Were Glad That Dont)

Xerneas is known to bring eternal life when its horns shine in seven beautiful colors. Its benevolent nature is matched by the beauty of its horns. Unlike many of the other Legendary Pokémon, Xerneas has no interest in stirring up trouble for anyone, nor does it have any rivalries with any Pokémon.

Unfortunately, if it expends too much life energy, it will fall asleep for a thousand years and be stuck in a tree-like state until then. However, its potential to bring eternal life, as well as its ethereal appearance, is worth wishing for.

1 We’re Glad Doesn’t Exist: Eternatus, The Herald of Destruction

Eternatus might be the deadliest and creepiest Legendary Pokémon in the entire series thus far. It crash-landed 20,000 years ago and threatened to destroy Galar. This event was known as the Darkest Day. Thanks to Zacian and Zazamenta, this Pokémon was sealed away, only to be nearly awakened again by Chairman Rose. If it wasn’t for Ash, Goh, and Leon’s combined efforts to stop Eternatus in the anime, there is no telling how bad things would have gotten in the Galar region. Eternatus’ destructive power is too much for anyone to bear in real life, and would likely cause an actual apocalypse in the real world.
