Although Pokémon’s Kanto region started it all with the original 151 Pokémon, the next generation gave fans a chance to return to Kanto in the well-beloved video games Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver. Although some fans may like Kanto more than others, people still share their appreciation toward Pokémon’s Johto region today.
Whether it’s through discussing Johto’s best league champions or ranking who’s the best amongst Ash’s Johto Pokemon, fans will find new things to discuss concerning the franchise. This includes which Johto region Pokémon should exist.
10 SHOULD EXIST: Hitmontop
Probably one of the peculiar fighting Pokémon because of it’s weird evolution requirement concerning its pre-evolution, Tyrogue, Hitmontop has the fighting prowess of a kung-fu master. Although it can walk like a human, it prefers to move by spinning around with the spike on its head to lay devastating kicking maneuvers.
On that note, Hitmontop can become great sparring partners for those who want to improve their martial arts and kick-boxing skills. However, if they were to exist, it’d be safe to bring some protective gear considering Hitmontop’s footwork is no joke.
9 SHOULD NOT EXIST: Ariados
Unless there are people that adore spiders and other creepy crawlies, Ariados is a Pokémon some would not want to see wandering their rooms, kitchen, or restroom at night-fall. Although these Pokemon may not look like some of the scariest monsters in anime history, they do carry an arsenal of powers that would make the toughest of people tremble before them.
After they capture their prey using silk and bite them using their poisonous fangs, they proceed to drink the blood from their victim. Considering the Ariados’ size compared to humans seen in the Pokémon anime, it’s best not to dream of these deadly Pokemon ever existing.
8 SHOULD EXIST: Smeargle
The Pokémon that can impress and may-be aid artists with their drawings, paintings, and designs would be Smeargle. Whether it wishes to help artists create human versions for Pokemon or giving them more ounces of paint for a graffiti project, Smeargle would be the best Pokemon to have for either scenario.
The symbols Smeargle creates with their paintbrush tails are also valuable in the Pokémon world, which can grant a Smeargle owner a wealthy life. Not only would Smeargle make a great art assistant for anyone who dabbles in graphic design and artwork, but it would make for an interesting-companion.
7 SHOULD NOT EXIST: Tyranitar
Whenever Tyranitar is-brought into the discussion, there’s always that one person who will note the striking resemblance this Pokémon has to Godzilla. Not only does Tyranitar look like the King of the Monsters, but it also has the personalities and destructive power to cause chaos around it. The Tyranitar species always look for new challenges and never seem to flinch when engaging an enemy Pokémon in combat.
Not only that but thanks to the mega evolution concept introduced in Pokemon X and Y and the Gigantamaxing idea introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, the creatures become more-dangerous and deadly. Therefore, it’s not worth existing in our world.
6 SHOULD EXIST: Marill
A professional swimmer’s dream come true, Marill is a water-mouse Pokémon that is sure to be popular if it existed. Not only can Marill use water attacks that could assist the firefighters with burning buildings, but it can also help lifeguards during life-ending situations. These instances involve saving humans who are in the middle of a strong current with a zero-to-no chance of surviving.
Marill’s can swim through strong-water-currents because of their water-resistant fur, and this also helps them feel warm even after swimming in cold water.
5 SHOULD NOT EXIST: Steelix
Another Pokémon with destructive power that’s just as grounded if not more so than Tyranitar is Steelix. This large, rock-hard snake is known for being a cave-dweller, which already would prove discouraging and annoying to people who love to mine or go exploring. Not only that, but Steelix is also known for having large-chompers that are capable of destroying large boulders with a single bite.
Thanks to Pokémon’s sixth generation, Steelix also has a mega evolution form that gives Steelix more fighting power and protection against damaging moves and objects. These mentioned traits–alongside Steelix’s ability to see in the dark make it too dangerous for the real world to handle.
4 SHOULD EXIST: Togepi
Probably one of the most-adorable Pokémon people should catch in the games, according to some, is Togepi. Misty’s time with the creature serves as proof that Togepi is a Pokémon worth having in the real world. Although Togepi can release a deadly gas, there’s a lot of good it can do.
Togepi can gather the energy from others and lend it out to those who need a positive boost and is often looked at as a good luck charm if their trainer can get the Pokémon to stand upright as it’s sleeping.
3 SHOULD NOT EXIST: Ho-oh
Though fans would love to gain the same experience Ash and Pikachu had when they saw Ho-Oh for the first time in the original anime, the Pokémon has many shortcomings that would make it a scary bird in our world. For example, Ho-Oh has the power to resurrect life, which may sound great on paper but can lead to devastating outcomes concerning who it brings back.
Not only that but Ho-Oh’s superb strength and majestic power, if fallen into the wrong hands, can lead to nothing but destruction—something Ho-Oh does not stand for.
2 SHOULD EXIST: Furret
Another slim furry Pokémon that wouldn’t oppose a threat to humanity would be Furret with its beautiful cream-colored fur and a long body that look like it would make for a great Pokémon to cuddle with by a fireplace. These Pokémon are also known for being extremely-fast-and-agile creatures capturing prey like Ratata and can dig when needed too.
Furret is also known for being a warm and caring creature toward certain Pokémon.
1 SHOULD NOT EXIST: Lugia
Known for being the poster Pokémon for the franchise’s second film, Lugia may have tried protecting Ash and friends from the three legendary birds’ rampage, but Lugia also holds power that would be too much for humankind to handle. In the Pokémon world, Lugia can tamper with the weather to its liking be it to create calm or rash storms.
Not only that, but Lugia’s wings can create wind currents so-powerful that it can demolish cliffs and spawn dangerous month-long storms. Although it knows of its own powers and tends to hibernate deep within the ocean, Lugia is very protective of its habitat and will do everything it takes to guard its home.
