One of the many differences that caused trouble in Deavan Clegg and ex-husband Jihoon Lee’s 90 Day Fiancé relationship was her being unable to speak or understand Korean. In fact, TLC viewers will never forget the translator device and its many mishaps. But in season 8 of 90 Day Fiancé, cast member Julia Trubkina seems to be amazingly fluent in Korean. Surprisingly, in spite of her fiancé being an American, and she herself a Russian.
If only Jihoon and Deavan had an Adam Lebzo-like translator for themselves and not a cheap gadget that pushed them to the brink of divorce on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Many arguments broke out between Jihoon and Deavan after she shifted base to South Korea. But the fights were all lost in translation for the TLC couple when Deavan’s gadget got passed around and wrongly blurted out “translated” statements such as, “I’ll make another mistake and I’ll waste that money again.” As 90 Day Fiancé fans laughed hard at the mishaps, they also realized that somewhere down the line, Deavan was at fault for not learning the language. The Utah-based Deavan was the one who’d discovered Jihoon on a dating app, became pregnant with him on the first date, and also visited his non-English speaking parents in Korea. As 90 Day Fiancé’s Deavan later shifted twice to the country, she often complained about the language barrier and culture which she showed little interest in learning about. With a new Korean-American boyfriend Chris “Topher” and her wish to raise Taeyang without his father Jihoon, Deavan claims to know about the country’s customs, which TLC fans find hard to believe. Amidst all this, 90 Day Fiancé season 8 star Julia speaking Korean fluently has pleasantly shocked many viewers.
Go-go girl Julia is the Russian 90 Day Fiancé of Brandon, who is currently staying on his Hummingbird Acres farm. The young reality TV star has become an instant fan-favorite due to her innocent one-liners, the way she’s trying to fit right in Brandon’s farm life, and her unique Instagram content. While fans often see 90 Day Fiancé’s Julia making funny TikTok videos, or posting throwbacks showcasing her karaoke skills, a recent AMA session revealed that she is fluent in Korean. This video posted by @90daythemelanatedway showed Julia replying to a fan’s “Could u film urself speaking Korean?” and left her followers impressed.

While the 90 Day Fiancé star never revealed how she acquired her skills, Julia’s IG highlights show her having taken multiple trips to South Korea, just like Deavan. In fact, some videos also feature Brandon and show the couple having a good time with friends at a local bar. This made 90 Day Fiancé fans speculate if Julia could marry Brandon and move to Asia if his parents don’t stop making her feeding pigs.
But considering that the 90 Day Fiancé couple is still staying happily, and possibly married, on Brandon’s farm, Julia could perhaps give Deavan some Korean lessons. This could, after all, invariably earn Deavan some brownie points from her 90 Day Fiancé critics, and give Julia a new career, since she’s “slacking” at her farm job anyway.
